Madrid indie rock chicks Hinds and compatriots Los Nastys, external have celebrated their friendship with a new split release.

Hinds have been busy stealing hearts across the UK festival scene again this summer and will continue to do so at Summerhall in Scotland and Green Man in Wales.

They've covered Lost Nastys' punk track Holograma, and had their own song, Castigas en el Granero, covered right back at them.

The band told Fader, external: "We decided to cover Holograma as a love message to Los Nastys.

"You can't even imagine how thankful we feel about them. In some way, they made us begin this adventure."

Los Nastys added: "We couldn’t be happier to be sharing a split single together."

Divorces are known to break a heart or two but in one case in Japan, an extra 54 violins were left in tatters.

A woman has been arrested for destroying her former partner's violin collection and 70 bows, all together worth 105.9m yen (£770,000).

The 34-year-old suspect broke into his apartment in Nagoya and wrecked the instruments, police said.

The incident took place in 2014 in the midst of their breakup but the woman has only just been arrested.

As we told you earlier this week, Wakefield's finest, The Cribs, have a new album coming. Rock Star [Stuff] is out on 11 August and was produced by the legendary Steve Albini.

The album will be the Jarman brothers seventh and was recorded live in just five days.

Ryan Jarman told 6 Music's Elizabeth Alker about the high-energy recording process, the raw production and how its aimed at hardcore Cribs fans.

"We've wanted to make a record like this for a long time" he said.

Last week it became the most-streamed song of all time, now the Latin American hit Despacito has had an additional, very public, but unwanted outing.

Puerto Rican stars Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee have lashed out at the Venezuelan president, accusing him of hijacking their song for political gain.

President Nicolas Maduro presented an altered version during his weekly television show on Sunday. The reworked lyrics promoted his plans for a controversial new citizens' assembly, which will be elected on Sunday to rewrite the constitution.

Fonsi and Yankee have branded it "an outrage".

So if you haven't listened back to the Scott Walker Prom yet from last night, then we seriously recommend that you do (scroll down).

That wasn't the only BBC live session last night though, as Manchester indie band Everything Everything performed live in the Radio 1 studios for Annie Mac.

They played two tracks from their new album A Fever Dream, plus a Neil Young cover.

English singer-songwriter Nick Mulvey wore his finest jumper for the occasion, which saw new song Mountain To Move selected as the Hottest Record in the world.

Tears for Fears have announced they are postponing the final four dates of their US tour, citing a family emergency.

All four remaining shows - including three with Hall & Oates - were due to take place in California, including their final two concerts at LA's Staples Center this Friday and Saturday.

We're wondering if Jeff Pearlman feels a bit of a chump now...but we're loving the picture.

The music world was left in shock after Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington was found dead at his California home last Thursday.

Many rock and rap stars, including his own band, have paid tribute to the 41-year-old singer. Now two more legendary frontmen have added their tributes.

Firstly Fred Durst, of Limp Bizkit, who says the nu metal would never have "affected so many lives’" without Chester.

Speaking to Variety, external, Durst said: "He had a way of making anyone he spoke to feel heard, understood and significant. His aura and spirit were contagious and empowering."

Next up, My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, who said that he was "devastated" to hear about the death of the singer, who had such a profound effect on his own life.

“[Chester] was actually at my wedding" he told Nerdist., external

"Not a lot of people were there because we got married super quickly at the end of the tour when half the people had gone home. So there were literally only 30 or 40 people there, and he was one of them.”

He added: “His band and bringing us on tour, that changed my life. I met my wife. We have an amazing life now and a daughter. My memories of that period and meeting [wife] Linds again are tied into Chester and his band."

Rick Ross apparently won't sign a female rapper to his Maybach Music Group because he wouldn't be able to resist her - carnally. And that's not good for business, says Ross.

“I'm so focused on my business. I just, I gotta be honest with you. You know, she looking good. I'm spending so much money on her photo shoots...," Rick said, in a recent interview on Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, external.

Ross is a mentor on the new VH1 show Signed, which promotes new and upcoming artists.

In 2013, he was dropped by Reebok after a verse on a remix of Rocko’s U.O.E.N.O was interpreted as pro-rape. At the time, he said: “To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologise.”

Looks like it's time for another apology.

Former Oasis and newly-solo singer Liam Gallagher has been looking back on quite a summer so far...

The 44-year-old singer performed at Glastonbury under his own steam for the first time; he was also a late special guest at Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester gig for the victims of the Manchester Arena attack.

Liam revealed to Beats 1 DJ Zane Lowe that Foo Fighter Dave Grohl had invited him to join the band on the Pyramid Stage for their Saturday night headline slot at Worthy Farm.

He declined. Here's why...

LG said: “He asked me to come on and do a song.

“I said no, cos I need a bit of rehearsal. I know it’s cool and all that, but I need a rehearsal.”

Fair enough, practice makes perfect.

The singer also confessed that he had apologised to Chris Martin backstage in Manchester, after having compared the Coldplay star to a vicar.

All is now forgiven.

He added: “I got in the dressing room and said ‘I apologise for everything I said before, I was being a ****head.’

“[Martin] went; 'Nah, nah, nah, we love it.' So I’ve got a pass.”

Liam sang Live Forever alongside the Coldplay frontman, with Chris adopting the Noel falsetto role.

Of course, Liam wasn't about to let good air time pass without a dig at his big bro, and former Oasis bandmate, Noel.

After acknowledging that the fact him and Noel don't speak anymore was "the saddest part" of their split, the Wall of Glass singer compared his brother's delivery of Oasis songs to that of country singer Dolly Parton.

“If you want to come and hear Oasis songs done properly, come to my gigs.

"Our kid’s doing them like Dolly Parton.”

Going solo Liam? What a way to make a living...

Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus and Coldplay's Chris Martin are among the artists lined up to play Radio 1's Live Lounge month in September.

The BBC station is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of live shows every weekday from 1 to 29 September.

Those signed up to play include The Killers, London Grammar, Rita Ora, Stormzy (hope and pray it's not a live Kem duet) and Harry Styles.

As a nod to the station’s special birthday, the acts will play live versions of their own tracks as well as cover versions from across the last 50 years.

The month kicks off with a concert from the Foo Fighters performing in their LA studio, and a Live Lounge Special will follow every subsequent Friday with - respectively - Pink, Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z.

The month will come to an end with a concert played by an unconfirmed special guest.

MTV has announced its nominations for this year's Video Music Awards (that's the VMAs to me and you), with Kendrick Lamar scoring eight nods for the video to his track Humble.

It's up for the coveted video of the year prize at the awards bash at the Forum in LA on 27 August.

We can't embed the video here due to some bad language, but you can find it online. It's the one that begins with him humbly lying on a bed of money.

But there's an interestingly-titled new award in the form of Best Fight Against The System - for those artists that are sticking it to the man in their videos. For the record that would be Logic, The Hamilton Mixtape, Big Sean, our girl Alessia once more, Taboo and John Legend.

We really hope whoever wins that one doesn't get up and thank their record label.

Which leads us seemlessly on to the sad news that Barbara Sinatra, widow of singer Frank Sinatra, external, has died at the age of 90.

The former model and Las Vegas showgirl passed away at home in Rancho Mirage, California, surrounded by family and friends, a spokesperson said.

Mrs Sinatra wed Frank in 1976. She had been married twice before - including to Zeppo Marx, youngest of the Marx Brothers comedy team.

A high-profile advocate for abused children, she and Frank set up the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center near Palm Springs, in 1986.

The pair had been married for 22 years when Frank died of a heart attack in 1998, aged 82.

Stormzy says he is 'serious' about recording a song with Love Island winner Kem Cetinay.

The grime star, who is a fan of the show, appeared on this year's Love Island to give some of the contestants rap advice during a talent competition.

After Kem returned from Island on Tuesday, he tweeted: "Yo my g @Stormzy1 what you saying... track soon come."

Stormzy replied: "Oiiiiii MAN LIKE KEMMMMMMM don't gas me. The legend is home."

In response, Kem suggested Stormzy 'come round mine asap clip abit of food, catch-up then get to writing'...

Eh?

Still, Stormzy clearly got the message. The rapper, currently on tour in Australia, and arguably still nursing his birthday hangover, replied: "Bro as soon as I'm back from Aus I'm coming to link you straight away, serious".

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you 'do a shoey', external on your birthday.

One of Australia's leading Aboriginal musicians, Dr G Yunupingu, has died at the age of 46.

The singer, born blind in the Northern Territory, became the highest-selling Australian indigenous artist ever.

He died at Royal Darwin Hospital on Tuesday after enduring "a long battle with illness", his record label said in a statement., external

Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett led the tributes on social media, calling Yunupingu "a truly great musician".

"Very sad news. Too young, so much left to give. Heart goes out to family," Garrett said, on Twitter.

The musician, who sang in English and in his native Yolngu language, performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert in London in 2012.

Hailed as 'the Australian voice of a generation', he had ongoing liver and kidney issues for some time, which had forced him to cancel a European tour.

Yunupingu's family asked media outlets not to use pictures of him after his death in accordance with indigenous traditions.

The work of enigmatic US singer Scott Walker was re-imagined inside the Royal Albert Hall last night, with a memorable evening of music at the BBC Proms.

Singers Jarvis Cocker, John Grant, Susanne Sundfør and Richard Hawley took it in turns - with the help of Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra - to belt out songs from the solo career of the man who helped soundtrack the 60s/70s.

The show didn't start to 22:00 GMT but it seems from the comments below that it was well worth staying up late for on a school night...

Lisbon has been chosen to host next year's Eurovision song contest on 12 May 2018.

It doesn't really come as any surprise - Graham Norton called it on the night, with his 'see you in Lisbon', after Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral clinched this year's contest with his sibling-penned ballad, Amar Pelos Dois.

But it turns out that Lisbon "fought off strong competition" from four other Portuguese cities - namely Braga, Gondomar, Guimarães and Santa Maria da Feira - for the privilege to host the 2018 event, which reaches over 180 million viewers.

Maybe it was the availability of cheap flights to the capital that swung it - or maybe it's those fabulous custard pies.

Either way, it's the first time ever that competition will be held in Portugal, as Salvador’s win was the country’s first in their 53 years of competing.
