West-London group WSTRN - who came joint fifth in the BBC's Sound of 2016 - are back with a new single, Sharna.

The group now consists of Louis-Rei and Haile after third member Akelle Shemai Charles - aka Akele - was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in 2017 for violent disorder.

He apologised to fans saying: "I'm sorry I have let you down."

Now back in the studio, the MOBO winners recently collaborated with Mabel for a remix of her Top 10 hit, Fine Line.

    1) Demi Lovato has 'always been transparent' about addiction

US pop singer Demi Lovato issued her first statement since being taken to hospital for a suspected drug overdose.

In an Instagram post (below) Lovato, 25, wrote: "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction.

"This illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome.".

She has since been released from hospital but has cancelled her South American tour (scroll down).

    2) Johnny Depp's Notorious B.I.G. movie has been put on ice

A movie about the murder of rap legend Notorious B.I.G. starring the actor has been pulled a month before its scheduled release.

City Of Lies, which also stars Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, was due to hit US cinemas on 7 September, but is now undated, a spokesman for the distributor said on Monday.

The decision comes during a period of bad publicity for Depp, who was sued for assault by a member of the film crew last month. He had previously been accused of assault by his ex-wife, Amber Heard - claims which he denies.

A recent Rolling Stone profile, which was intended to rehabilitate his image, instead showcased the actor’s decline.

Sticking with musical movies, the disco legends announced they're bringing the band's story to the big screen.

Kim Sledge - the second-youngest sister - has been developing the project about the band's rise to stardom and the backlash they faced from the racist "Disco Sucks" movement.

    4) You never know what you might find in your back garden (just ask Aerosmith)

The Boston band's dilapidated old tour bus which they used in the 1970s was discovered during the filming of the TV reality series American Pickers.

The 1964 International Harvester Metro, with a hand-painted band name and weird dancing hippy on its side, had spent decades rusting in a woodland property in Massachusetts.

Hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz were told that the vehicle was already there when the current property owner took possession.

It's provenance was confirmed by the band's co-founding guitarist Ray Tabano, who was replaced in 1971.

“We’d drive from Boston up to New Hampshire for $125," he said.

"Then after the gas, the tolls, and the food and back, we’d make like $3 apiece."

  7. Lucie Silvas on why her latest video was a pain in the neckpublished at 14:16 BST 10 August 2018

You hear all the time about performers suffering for their art, but it's not often you get first-hand evidence.

At a playback session for her latest album this week, however, singer-songwriter Lucie Silvas proved to be the exception to the rule.

Kite, the lead single from her forthcoming E.G.O. record, comes with a striking video in which Britsh-born Silvas is seen shaking her blonde locks around in true headbanger styl-ee.

Her exertions left the 40-year-old with a neck injury that meant it was touch and go as to whether she could make Wednesday's central London event at all.

"We did the video last week in Nashville and it was a disaster," Lucie admits.

"I’m not a dancer and I was moving my head around and on Friday I literally couldn’t move.

"All the muscles in my neck went and I couldn’t swallow or speak.

"I had an MRI on Tuesday because we thought I’d sprained something in my spine.

"It’s a good story to tell but it wasn’t fun," she continues. "It was a horrible couple of days."

    Lucie SilvasImage source, Thirty Tigers

Previously signed to EMI and Mercury Records, Silvas hasn't troubled the UK charts since going on her own after the release of 2006 album The Same Side.

Yet she hasn't been idle, her subsequent move to Nashville resulting in a wealth of songwriting credits for, among other things, the short-lived but much-loved TV series Smash.

Now married to John Osborne, the older half of country duo Brothers Osborne (pictured with her below), she is back with a new record that combines country inflections with lyrics that reflect her occasionally rocky experiences in the music industry.

The title track, for example, stands for "Everybody Gets Off" and is variously followed by "...on the fame and the glory" and "...on the size of the trophy".

Lucie Silvas with husband John Osborne and brother-in-law TJImage source, Getty Images

Lucie says the song is "not pointing the finger at anyone" but is merely talking "about the day and age we live in".

"We are constantly attached to being seen and being heard, and that can be quite dangerous," she explains. "We feel like if we’re not elevated on a public platform, we’re not important.

"I don’t want my life to depend on being famous, though sometimes I fall into that way of thinking.

"That's why I moved to Nashville. I never cared if I’d be successful there or not; I just wanted to write songs that meant something to me."

E.G.O. is out on 24 August and Lucie will be back in the UK in November to tour with her husband's band.

Here's an interview we did with her way back in 2006, in which she spoke about a memorable encounter with Sir Elton John.

Actor Lakeith Stanfield - who also stars in Get Out and Sorry to Bother You - has linked up with Tune-Yards aka musician Merrill Garbus (pictured below) to collaborate on a new song.

Stanfield also records as half of a duo, under the name Moors, with Hrishikesh Hirway.

Then new track is called Mango but you'll need to find it on YouTube as it comes with a language warning.

Stanfield recently apologised for videos showing him freestyling and using homophobic lyrics.

He said he often "assumes characters that have different viewpoints and different views on life".

Last night I went to an album playback like no other.

A small group of fans and press were invited down to Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club in London to hear Slaves highly-anticipated third album, Acts Of Fear And Love, whilst sketching the two of them…

Laurie and Isaac strolled on stage in silky red dressing gowns, they then dropped those and assembled their positions - posing in union jack flag boxers, whilst everyone present did their best attempt at life drawing, with varying degrees of accuracy.

I know you’re not reading this to hear about my non-existent art skills, so how was the album?

It’s brilliant. It’s the best record the Kent duo have ever made in my humble opinion.

It shows a really different side to their band with it’s diverse and dynamic indie sound.

Highlights from the record include current single, Chokehold, external, sarcastic album opener, The Lives They Wish They Had and the tender Photo Opportunity, out today.

Everyone outside of the life drawing class will be able to hear the album on release day, which is next Friday (17 August).

Kanye West was stumped by TV host Jimmy Kimmel when he quizzed the rapper about his support for President Trump.

The usually verbose artist seemed lost for words when Kimmel asked him why he thought Mr Trump cared about black people, "or any people at all".

His silence on Thursday's show prompted Kimmel to cut to a commercial break, watch from around 11.45 in above.

The 41-year-old hip hop star was more lucid earlier in his first appearance on Kimmel's late-night chat show since 2013 - following their Twitter spat - while discussing designing clothes, his wife Kim K-West, and mental health

Asked why he had decided to endorse Trump publicly, West said he hadn't wanted to succumb to pressure to take the predictable option.

"As a musician, African-American... everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me," he said, suggesting there was a perception that "black people can only be Democrats".

The trip hop producer/DJ spoke to 6 Music's Mark Radcliffe this week about new film, The Man From Mo’Wax’, which chronicles his life in music.

Apparently the film does not always paint James in an entirely flattering light.

"Do I think it's fair? At times," replies the man from UNKLE.

"There are moments in it that I'm very very very very proud.

    Listen above.

You can see the film in cinemas nationwide from Friday 31 August.
