...so can artists please stop releasing any new music videos until tomorrow, thanks.

    Y'know #NewMusicFriday an all that...

    Listen to them all below.

We've also had news of rapper Kano having a court case against him dropped, Later...'s 25th anniversary celebrations, and one star's strange rant about the demise of pop star attitude.

But above all, today had the great news that rock god Josh Homme - the Queens of the Stone Age frontman - is going to read a CBeebies bedtime story.

Above, again, is the wonderful picture announcing that news. Sweet dreams, everyone. Don't have nightmares!

They were, however, billed as The New Yardbirds at The Teen Club in Gladsaxe on the outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Plant was apparently introduced on stage as as 'Robert Plat'.

The lo-fi video - shot last summer at BST Hyde Park - features famous faces including Ted Dwayne from Mumford & Sons, Sam Smith and Blaine Harrison from Mystery Jets

We have absolutely no idea what he is singing about, but its a genuinely uplifting track.

  5. Kelly Clarkson debuts new single, with nod to Beyonce?published at 15:01 BST 7 September 2017

The Invincible singer released her new single, Love So Soft, today - and it's a pop doozy, with a 50s swing feel to the verses and a sexy bass breakdown for the chorus.

It's due to appear on her forthcoming Meaning of Life album, out 27 October.

The video features Clarkson standing in a lounge as it explodes around her - she really needs to get her electrics looked at - and also an apparent tribute to Beyonce.

If you jump a minute in, you'll see Clarkson wearing a wide-brim hat, her head down, which looks remarkably like the look Beyonce popularised in her Formation video. Watch that below and make up your own mind.

The song is a polished ballad, featuring a booming chorus that has him and Sia singing how they're going to make love while "on the run."

"You don't need to be alone / I'll be with you from dusk til dawn / Baby, I'm right here," it goes - words that many One Direction fans are going to be scaring their boy and girlfriends with tonight.

ZAYN fans are unsurprisingly losing it. "I've never felt so alive," is a typical comment beneath the video on YouTube. Meanwhile on Twitter:

The backlash is around the corner, we're guessing.

  7. Slipknot's Corey Taylor tells Trump haters to "calm down"published at 14:02 BST 7 September 2017

    The Guardian

Are you worried that Donald Trump's going to cause the end of the world?

Well, calm down! At least you should if you take advice from Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, a man who is, er, famously calm on stage, as you can tell by the picture above. In an interview with The Guardian, external, Taylor describes Trump as "so ineffectual".

"Everyone was worried about the crazy things he’d do," he says, "but there’s nothing that he’s done that can’t be changed in another administration.

    Quote Message

There’s no need to panic. Too many – I don’t want to say liberal lambasts – are hitting the panic button too quickly, instead of bringing up issues and talking about them.

The interview also sees him talk about how artificial intelligence will take over us all, the problems of phone addiction, and - back on politics - why celebrities should stop trying to become politicians, like the rapper Kid Rock who recently said he's going to become a senator:

"What the hell is Kid Rock going to do? It’s the biggest form of ego I have ever heard in my life. Please go ahead. Drive a car with a blindfold on and see how far it gets you."

Less intensely, Taylor also says he loves Ed Sheeran ("I’m stoked for people like Ed – that kid worked his ass off") and gives his views on online dating ("As long as there are hopeless romantics like myself, I don’t think romance will die").

Basically, it's a great read. Maybe this is what Louis Tomlinson was talking about when he said he wanted more attitude in music (scroll down for that bizarre story).

"I was announcing new music, my first arena show in Paris and sharing my journey on the roof of a monument I saw growing up and never did I think I would be stood on the top broadcasting to the world.

    Quote Message

It was an honour for me. Paris is my city. It inspired me in every way, and for those streets to feel my music was the ultimate honour.

The much-discussed mystery guest on the new Foo Fighters album, Concrete and Gold, turns out to be the least Foo Fighters guest imaginable. Justin Timberlake guests on one track. Well, he sings a few "la la la's" in the background of the song, at least.

Foos frontman Dave Grohl told Rolling Stone that the singer hung out with the band at LA's EastWest studios where they were both working.

"We'd drink whiskey in the parking lot," Grohl says. "He was really, really cool.

"Then the night before his last day, he says, 'Can I sing on your record? I don't want to push it, but I just want to be able to tell my friends.' "

"He nailed it," Grohl added. "I'm telling you – the guy's going somewhere."

Read the full interview, external, which also includes a trip with Grohl to a record shop where no one recognises him. Perhaps because the shop is full of Lana del Rey fans.

The clip features a woman going to rescue her friend who is passed out at a party. She takes a puff on her inhaler and suddenly develops supernatural powers - a moment all asthma sufferers can relate to, we're sure.

The song is from Beck's 13th - THIRTEENTH! - album Colors (he is insisting on the American spelling, the darn Yank), due out 13 October.

Yesterday, Beck got on the phone with 6 Music to talk about the record. Listen below, but about the new song he said: "We were trying to maybe [get] that feeling when we're playing festivals and everyone's letting their guard down...they have this rock energy that's maybe a little reckless."

There's "something a little Brazilian about it as well", he added.

The grime artist has had an assault charge against him dropped after the couple who brought the case failed to attend court.

The 32-year-old MC was accused of attacking the couple in London's Shoreditch House last September.

But after Suzzan Atala and Henry Kinman failed to turn up for the trial at Wood Green Crown Court, the case against Kano was thrown out.

The xx had a crack at the Justin Timberlake track My Love, in their Live Lounge yesterday.

The original song is from Timberlake's 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds.

It's a typically upbeat performance, and the band managed to make Timberlake sound just like themselves. Although is there any act The xx couldn't make sound like themselves?

  16. Lady Gaga teases new Netflix documentarypublished at 11:00 BST 7 September 2017

    Lady GagaImage source, Netflix

Lady Gaga looks all raw and real in the trailer for her forthcoming Netflix documentary Five Foot Two, which is premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow.

Filmmaker Chris Moukarbel directed the doc which follows Gaga for a year as she promotes her Joanne album and grapples with everything from "relationships to health issues, from finding solace in her inner circle to conquering her insecurities."

The clip, which sadly we can't post here due to her frank language, shows her preparing for a medical procedure and getting ready for her SuperBowl performance.

Florence Welch - of Florence and the Machine fame - makes a brief appearance, suggesting the film could give an insight into other stars' lives too.

The singer sent pizza to her fans in Montreal this week after cancelling a gig on doctors orders.

  17. Josh Homme to read a CBeebies Bedtime Storypublished at 10:35 BST 7 September 2017

    John Homme

"Hi, I'm Josh, are you all tucked in with your favourite teddy?"

The best sentence we will write today is that Queens of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme is to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story.

He will read Julia Donaldson's Zog - the tale of an accident-prone young dragon - in an episode which will be broadcast on Friday 6 October.

Previous readers include actor Tom Hardy, Captain America actor Chris Evans, athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill, Elbow singer Guy Garvey and David 'The Hoff' Hasselhoff.

    Night, night.*

  19. Louis Tomlinson wants to know "where all the attitude's gone." Any ideas?published at 09:55 BST 7 September 2017

    Image caption,

    Showing attitude!

Louis Tomlinson is the sort of musician who apologises in interviews for smoking ("I know, I know, it’s not great...., external") and for partying after One Direction went on hiatus ("It wasn't really me, but I embraced it at the time").

Which is why it's somewhat of a surprise that last night he tweeted this:

What on earth did he mean? Fortunately, he quickly clarified:

He later added: "Oasis are sick and we need more bands that don't give a *** like them in their prime."

We think the swear word in the middle of that may be an example of the attitude he's talking about.

Louis has expressed his admiration for Oasis many times before, even after Noel Gallagher criticised One Direction's music, external.

But, to be honest, we are very confused, especially having spent a good half-an-hour looking for Oasis interviews to find the moment where they apologise for smoking.

It seems we're not alone in that confusion:

It wasn't quite the undiscovered gem that we hoped it would be, but Radio 2 had the first play this morning of a remix of the George Michael song Fantasy.

It's been produced by disco legend Nile Rodgers who revealed he had "mixed feelings" over the song being released eight months after the singer's death.

"You SHOULD have mixed feelings," he said on Twitter, external. "No one's heart was dragged through emotional ambiguity more than mine."

According to George's manager David Austin, the song was originally meant to be on Listen Without Prejudice Vol.1 and was intended to be one of the singles from the album, but somehow it "got lost in the ether."

According to our music reporter Mark Savage: "Fantasy sounds vastly different to the version that was released as a b-side in 1990, and later as a bonus track on 2011's deluxe version of the Faith album.

"The tinny 80s production of the original has been completely overhauled in favour of a slinky funk groove, featuring Rodgers' choppy guitar rhythms."
