Scroll down for Taylor's big surprise, action from the Oscars and Chvrches helping to launch a new BBC Scotland channel.

We're off to enjoy some of this most unusual February UK sunshine while it lasts.

Clean Bandit were runners up twice at last week's Brits ceremony, having been nominated in the single and video categories.

    Better luck next year guys.

Not to dwell on that for too long, the band have just posted a early contender for next year's video prize, with the visuals for their collab with Ellie Goulding.

It chronicles the troubles of a US school child who is longing to break free from an oppressive regime but who ultimately ends up fronting one instead later in life.

It even features a cameo from Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey as a US President behaving badly.

  3. Musicians pay tribute to Olivia Colmanpublished at 15:28 GMT 25 February 2019

You may remember her best as Sophie from Peep Show but now she's a bona fide movie star.

Colman won the Oscar for best actress for her role in The Favourite and charmed viewers with a funny and tearful speech, during which she was lost for actual English words upon catching the eye of Lady Gaga.

As well as winning the hearts of Hollywood, the English actress also impressed some other talented Brits.

Music News LIVE favourite Maisie Peters tweeted that Colman should've won the award for "best person that ever existed".

Here's one from Friday that we've had on repeat all weekend.

French pop star and adopted Brit,Christine and the Queens, dropped in to The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and performed a beautifully minimalist cover of Need You Tonight by INXS.

Chris lost out to Ariana Grande in the international female solo artist category at last week's Brit Awards, but told our reporter Mark Savage on the red carpet beforehand that she'd party like a winner regardless.

"Every time I'm nominated for the Brits it already feels like I'm winning because I'm French baby!"

That's a magnifique way to approach it.

While you tuck into your sad Monday salad, see if you enjoy it as much as Zoe's guests, Martin Clunes and Katherine Ryan did.

Being a mega successful Brit/Grammy winner has not stopped Adele from fangirling over the likes of Beyonce, Cheryl and Stormzy in the past.

This weekend, she declared her love for another fellow popstar, Robyn, after attending the Swedish hitmaker's show in Los Angeles.

The Londoner posted the below video of her singing Dancing on My Own, alongside the caption: "Robyn tonight at the palladium I’ve never danced so much ❤️"

And. It. Hurts. With. Every. Emoji. Heartbeat.

Robyn brings her Honey tour to the UK in July, but for now you'll have to take Adele's word (and trademark belly laugh) for it.

  14. Michael Jackson documentary director is challenging 'cult of celebrity'published at 11:27 GMT 25 February 2019

Dan Reed and Michael Jackson with Wade RobsonImage source, GETTY IMAGES/ CHANNEL 4

"The cult of celebrity is pernicious and it leads people to go blind and parents to do stupid things," says Dan Reed, director of a new Michael Jackson documentary.

The new film, Leaving Neverland, first made headlines in January, when it was considered so graphic that mental health professionals had to be on hand at a screening.

Showing at Sundance Festival, the four-hour (two-part) film featured the testimonies of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who say they were sexually abused by the singer as young boys in the 1990s.

The Jackson estate has denied the allegations and made a number of attempts to discredit the film, calling it "an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in" after the singer's 2009 death.

The estate is suing broadcaster HBO for $100m (£77m) saying it breaches a non-disparagement clause in an old contract.

Director Reed has told our entertainment reporter Annabel Rackham he hopes his film will "make parents think twice about trusting strangers and will make people think twice about idolising a celebrity".

  16. R Kelly: Singer's bail set at $1m after sex abuse chargespublished at 10:38 GMT 25 February 2019

    Media caption,

R Kelly hands himself in to police

A US judge has set R Kelly's bail at $1m (£766,500) after the singer was charged with sexually abusing four females, including three minors.

The R&B star, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, has faced decades of sexual abuse claims, most recently in the television docu-series Surviving R Kelly.

He has never been convicted and has previously denied other allegations.

He turned himself in on Friday after an arrest warrant was issued. Even though bail was set at $1m, he will have to post $100,000 to secure his release.

So looks like 2019 is gonna be a busy one for Baby Spice.

Ahead of the Spicies re-union tour, she's just announced her new album, My Happy Place, will be released on 12 April.

Lead single, Baby Please Don't Stop - one of two new original tracks - will be with us on Wednesday and the album also includes a collaboration with Robbie Williams on a fresh version of the Spice Girls track (and ode to safe sex) 2 Become 1.

Emma said: “The reason I called the album My Happy Place is because my happy place is with my family, with my friends, listening to music and being in the studio.

"All those things came together on this album. While recording it my kids came to the studio, my friends came down, my mum listened to every song over and over again. Being in the studio I just feel so happy."

    She added:

As you get older you feel more confident because actually your priorities change, and my family have become my focus, but this album is like the icing on the cake. Being able to write, record and perform is definitely that extra sprinkle of magic.

Will Young and Emma's boyfriend Jade Jones also stopped by the studio to lend their vocals on the record.

The Spice Girls kick off their UK & Ireland tour at Croke Park on 24 May.

Who better than the Glasgow electro-pop band to launch the BBC's new channel dedicated to our friends north of the (Hadrian's) wall?

It kicked off on Sunday night with a one-off show, A Night At The Theatre, and new programmes Getting Hitched Asian Style and The People's News.

Singer Lauren Mayberry's voice was the first heard on the new channel as she and her band were joined by the BBC Symphony Orchestra for a performance of the song Miracle from their 2018 album Love is Dead.

You may well be reading this through bloodshot eyes if you stayed up all night to follow the Oscars live.

In case you're just catching up, it was a great night for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who won best original song for Shallow from A Star Is Born.

They performed the track - which was co-written by a team including superstar DJ/producer Mark Ronson and former Libertine and Dirty Pretty Things bandmember Anthony Rossomando.

Brad claims to have learned guitar especially for the movie but wisely let the professional musician take the lead last night, cosying up to her on piano.

Elsewhere, in the other main music award, best original score went to Ludwig Goransson for his efforts on the Marvel Comics movie Black Panther.

It fended off competition from soundtracks to the likes of BlacKkKlansman and Mary Poppins Returns.

Speaking of Mary P, another actress-turned-singer Bette Midler sang The Place Where Lost Things Go from the sequel to the classic kids movie.

The original song was performed by lead actress Emily Blunt in the film but you can view Bette's big night version of the song - which lost out to Gaga in the best song category - below.

And finally, Queen kicked off the show with a mini medley of two of their biggest hits; We Will Rock You and We are the Champions (below).

The Freddie Mercury biopic led the awards by picking up four gongs, including best actor for Rami Malek.

"I think about what it would have been like to tell little bubba Rami that one day this might happen to him, and I think his curly-haired little mind would have been blown," he said in his acceptance speech.

"That kid was struggling with his identity, trying to figure himself out, and to anyone struggling and trying to discover their voice... we made a film about a gay man, an immigrant, who lived his life unapologetically himself.

"And the fact I'm celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this."

Rami reportedly celebrated his win by falling off the stage (above).

Don't worry Rami, we're sure Freddie or his successor Adam Lambert have done worse.

  20. Surprise!published at 09:00 GMT 25 February 2019

    Taylor SwiftImage source, Getty Images

Morning everybody and welcome to another week of Music News LIVE.

    Coming up today:

    • Musical action/reaction from last night's big Oscars ceremony
    • Emma Bunton announces first new material in 12 years
    • Migos weren't happy with Donald Glover's 2018 SNL parody
    • Chvrches help kick off the new BBC Scotland channel

We'll kick off the week though with a heart-warming surprise appearance from Taylor Swift at the engagement party of Alexander Goldschmidt and fiancee Ross Girard.

Swift appeared and explained how digital media manager Goldschmidt had emailed her before bursting into an unplugged acoustic rendition of King of My Heart, from her last album, Reputation.

“I’ve been off tour for a while but hopefully it’s still all right,” Swift said.

“This is from Alex. It’s sung by me, but it’s from Alex.”

We should point out that Alex and Ross are a pretty well-connected couple, with the latter having worked with Pink, Usher, Maren Morris and the Strokes.

Still, this performance is gonna be tough to top at the actual wedding...
