The Aussie pop star returns on Friday with Dancing; the first cut from her forthcoming album, Golden.

Not only is she back but she's back with a new cowgirl casual look. Well, sort of new. Do you remember 1994 album track Cowboy Style, external? Anyone? Anyone?

Golden is Kylie's first full length effort since 2015's Kylie Christmas and apparently she's going in a "different direction" (what Easter?).

But don't stress - it's still "very much a Kylie record".

"I promised my fans I would put my heart and soul into this record and I stayed true to my word" she says in the clip below.

When he's not up to his neck in zombie guts, teenage Walking Dead actor Chandler Riggs is an electronic artist who goes by the name of Eclipse.

Chicago rapper Vic Mensa has shared new visuals for his track We Could Be Free, which delivers a message of peace and love over hate.

To coincide with the US public holiday Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, the short video features shocking scenes of police brutality (you have been warned) and protests.

The video contains some offensive language too so we can't show it on here but you can find it on his Twitter feed now.

BBC 6 Music

Eddie Kramer spoke to 6 Music's Shaun Keaveny this morning about a brand new Jimi box set - Both Sides of the Sky.

The new album features 13 studio recordings made between 1968 and 1970, ten of which have never before been released.

Eddie told Shaun and the team about getting the tone of Jimi's guitar right, their sessions together and the magnificence of the great man's guitar playing.

"We understood each other," he said.

"He knew I could always get him a sound."

Tributes have been pouring in today (scroll down) to honour the life and legacy of The Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan.

Their biggest hit Zombie was was a visceral response to the death of two children in an IRA bombing in the Cheshire town of Warrington.

"This song's our cry against man's inhumanity to man; and man's inhumanity to child," said the singer.

BBC Music Reporter Mark Savage has been looking into the tragedy that inspired the anthemic song.

The Irish rockers will take to the road this autumn and have announced two shows in the UK.

• October 19th - Manchester Arena, Manchester
• October 23rd - The O2, London

The band played two shows in Twickenham this summer on their Joshua Tree anniversary tour.

The new tour follows the recent release of their studio album Songs of Experience, a companion to 2014's Songs of Innocence.

Rapper Big Narstie took over the ITV weatherman duties on today's Good Morning Britain and had some words or wisdom for people up and down the country.

Narstie took over from regular weather presenter Alex Beresford and warned the good people of the north; "Anyone who's got pets, you're gonna be getting bare mud in your yard."

He also noted that the Scottish Highlands would be getting "a bag of snow."

The Hollywood Reporter

The life and music of Johnny Cash will be profiled in a new documentary, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The news comes 50 years after Cash's famous Folsom Prison concert and the film, which apparently has the full support of the Cash estate, will explore his life through the jail gig.

It will be made by Thom Zimny, who has directed similar films about Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley.

Zimny said, in a statement: “While the linear narrative of the Folsom Prison performances will anchor our film, each song in the set list will open a door into a nonlinear presentation of Cash’s emotional, musical and personal development."

After having spent most of last year touring the world with his band The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger has started this year with a holiday.

The 74-year-old Stones frontman posed for a quick pic on the lawns outside a palace in India.

We think it might be the Umaid Bhwan Palace in Jodhpur.

Mick wrote that he's enjoying the "vibrant sights and sounds" that the country have to offer.

However, look a bit more closely and it seems the chef is non-plussed about having a rock 'n' roll legend pose with one of his creations.

"I'm definitely living the dream. I'm still in college, so I'm like 65 percent living the dream and 35 percent doing my homework!

"I'm so excited about the transition to 100 percent living my dream but I'm so lucky."

Seventeen-year-old student Maisie Peters has the honour of being the youngest of our Newbie Tuesday artists, so far.

Her track, Place We Were Made (below), an acoustic semi-autobiographical tale of growing up in a small town, made it on to Radio 1's BBC Music Introducing playlist after the Brighton native uploaded it locally in The South.

Maisie's musical story began young, at the age of 12, when she joined a local band - the name of which she refuses to disclose.

"We're still on Spotify, so I refuse to tell anyone the band name because it's too embarrassing, I'll take it to the grave," she groans.

"I've always sang but I started playing guitar inspired by Taylor Swift. Obviously there are many reasons why I'm not like Taylor Swift but I thought I could be."

By the age of 14, she had left the aforementioned band and started out on her own, eventually launching her own YouTube channel, external.

Though much of her material is played on an acoustic guitar, she says she is less influenced by classic singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and is more inspired by pop artists like Lily Allen and Gabrielle Aplin or "good pop music that is very hooky and very structured".

"I always thought in my head that songs I wanted to make were catchy and that people would want to listen to," she says.

Last year, she supported another hotly-tipped young singer from the midlands called Mahalia.

Maisie credits her social media presence with helping her build on a network of artists who share similar sensibilities.

"For an independent musician, it's one of the best things because it's so easy to put yourself out there whether you live in Cumbria or London, you have the same chance as anyone else if you're on YouTube,

"It's good for joining a community. I made friends on YouTube with people who were doing the same thing as me and we all did videos together and gave each other shout outs."

She is aware of the pressures of social media on young people and says that it has begun to seep into her writing.

"The other day I wrote a song called I Think You Like Me Better on Twitter. It's constant because the projection of who you are online and who you actually are, is very different, so writing songs can feel like a median between them."

Maisie is quick to play down any talk of a debut album ("I've not done an EP yet, so an album? I'll come back to you on that in a year") but says the rest of the year will be filled up with live shows.

But are any of her previous gigs memorable for good or bad reasons?

"I remember doing my first headline thing in Brighton, I must have been about 14, playing live and putting videos up are very different things but I love playing live," she says.

"My first gig was like my family and friends and about three people who saw my poster outside Waterstones.

"I used to do a lot of pub open mics in front of a lot of like rugby men who were like, 'Who is this girl and why is she in my pub?'

"In a nice way, they were always pleasantly baffled about me singing about boy problems."

Midlands indie rockers Editors return today with the first cut from their newly-announced forthcoming sixth album Violence, will arrive on 9 March.

Californian hard rockers Bad Wolves - who were about to re-record the Cranberries track Zombie with the late singer ahead of her death - have paid tribute to Dolores O'Riordan saying: "The rawness and honesty she projected on stage and in her recordings was something to which all bands should aspire to".

Dolores was due to record her vocals on Monday.

"When we heard she wanted to sing on our version, it was the greatest compliment a [band] could receive," the band added.

Dan Waite, from the band's label Eleven Seven, said:

“Dolores left me a voice message just after midnight last night stating how much she loved Bad Wolves version of Zombie; she was looking forward to seeing me in the studio and recording vocals.

Artists including Wolf Alice, Rag 'n' Bone Man and Laura Marling will headline shows on behalf of the charity in February.

War Child raises money and awareness for children whose lives have been affected by conflict.

Jessie Ware and alt-J are also playing shows.

A prize draw for tickets, external opens at 09:00 GMT on Friday 19 January and closes on 5 February.

There will also be a limited number of tickets for sale.

The Beatles movie Yellow Submarine will hit the cinemas again this summer for one night only to mark 50 years since its release.

The 1968 film will return in 4k animation at Picturehouse Cinemas across the country on 8 July.

The film includes classic Beatles tracks including All You Need Is Love and the title track (above), which was arguably one of drummer Sir Ringo Starr's finest moments...Thomas the Tank Engine aside, of course.

The winners of the BBC Sound of 2015 will top the bill at Maida Vale studios in London on 30 January.

They'll be joined by this year's winner Norwegian pop star Sigrid, who was crowned as the Sound of 2018 last week.

Her new track Strangers looks like it's heading for the top 10 in Friday's UK singles chart.

One of the music industry's men of 2017 was undeniably producer and singer Jack Antonoff - who worked with the likes of Lorde, St Vincent, Banks, Taylor Swift and Pink.

He also released his band Bleachers' second album Gone Now and he's just shared a new track from the forthcoming film Love, Simon.

Stars including Nick Cave, Bono and Johnny Depp were among the guests at a birthday concert for The Pogues singer on Monday night.

Shane turned 60 on Christmas Day and was honoured by Irish President Michael D Higgins with a lifetime achievement award at the party in Dublin's National Concert Hall.

Hollywood star Depp brought out his guitar to join Bono for a rendition of The Pogues' A Rainy Night In Soho (caught on camera below), while old buddies Cave and Shane - who is confined to a wheelchair - teamed up for the band's Summer In Siam.

Singer Imelda May was there too and tweeted the star-studded image below of herself with Bobby Gillespie, Nick Cave, Clem Burke, The Libs' Carl Barat and The Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock.

Back now to the story of the day, the tragic death of Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan.

The band released their final album Something Else last year but had to cancel a string of concerts due to "medical reasons associated with a back problem", due to playing a heavy guitar for so many years.

Speaking to the BBC in April (above) Dolores seemed focused on the future and happy that she was back performing with the group...

The Cranberries lead singer Dolores O'Riordan has died suddenly at the age of 46, her publicist has confirmed.

The Irish musician, originally from Limerick, led the band to international success in the 90s with singles including Linger and Zombie.

The latter track, external tackled the subject of 'the troubles' in Ireland.

A statement from her band said they were "devastated" to lose their "friend" and an "extraordinary talent".

"The world has lost a true artist" they write.

Tributes have been pouring in, including one from Kinks legend Dave Davies, who posted a picture of himself with Dolores, describing the news as "unbelievable".

He writes that the two were planning to write some songs together soon.

British US chat show host James Corden recalls the time the singer made his day as a teenager by signing his train ticket, while other tributes come from the likes of Duran Duran as well as fellow Irish musicians Hozier, Kodaline and Jim from The Corrs.
