Singer Bernard Sumner says the band will "deconstruct and re-think" their back catalogue but will "definitely not play Blue Monday."

Got that? Luckily we have no such rule here at MNL.

So here's Bernard and the guys talking 6 Music's Jarvis Cocker through how they made their big 1983 hit... thirty years on.

Turns out it's just a secret drum machine, mixed with a bit of Donna Summer and a pinch of Kraftwerk. Once ready just pop it into a v.expensive sleeve.

    Easy.

    BBC Radio 1

Producer Mura Masa secured the services of the French star for his new track Second 2 None which was given the Annie Mac seal of approval last night.

He said: Basically I'd finished the album and turned it in and she was in London doing some fashion thing and she wanted to go into the studio and I told her the album was finished so it might not be used but let's just do something anyway.

"And then she came out with this.

"She recorded the whole song in one or two takes. Unbelievable. "

Two thirds of us (or 69% if you prefer) are ‘happier’ and ‘more stimulated’ when listening to live music, according to a new study.

Not that any Glasto-goers from the weekend needed a study to tell them that.

According to a new Royal Albert Hall, external study of 2,000 UK adults, people were 'more engaged’ (68%) and ‘more sociable’ (59%) when live music was playing. Almost three quarters (73 %) agreed that ‘live music can make an event feel more special’.

Lucy Noble, director of events at the Royal Albert Hall, who host Free Friday Music days believes venues need to do more to make live music more accessible to the masses.

She said: “The positive effects of live music are without doubt.

"We must do all we can to ensure that live music is accessible and affordable to all and not just the privileged and wealthy.”

BBC Radio 1 has a problem.

But it's not the playlist, listening figures or social media following that controller Ben Cooper is concerned about - it's where the next generation of presenters is coming from.

"It's everyone's favourite game at Radio 1 to try and second guess me and come up with their fantasy schedule," he said as he unveiled Radio 1 Vintage - a pop-up station (scroll down for more) which will broadcast old shows from across the decades as part of the station's 50th birthday celebrations in September.

"It's getting harder because you don't have the likes of MTV presenters like Cat Deeley, Edith Bowman, Trevor Nelson or Zane Lowe.

"You don't have T4 with Vernon Kay and Dermot O'Leary. You don't have CD:UK or Top of the Pops. So it's really hard to find that next group of presenters that are coming up."

  14. Q) How many pieces of ID to get into Ed Sheeran gig?...published at 12:10 BST 29 June 2017

    BBC Newsbeat

    A) Four.

Ed Sheeran is upping his fight against touts selling tickets to his 2018 tour by imposing what sound like the strictest rules about entry to his gigs.

Ed and his team have previously said they are "vehemently opposed" to ticket re-sales.

So when fans turn up to see him perform one of his seven 2018 UK stadium gigs, they'll need four forms of ID.

A statement from Ed's record label, Atlantic Records read: "Ed and his team have a strict stance against anyone using secondary ticketing websites for profit.

"On this tour, any tickets that are resold will not be valid unless they are bought and sold through Ed's official resale partner, Twickets, which allows fan to fan sales at face value plus booking fee only.

    Quote Message

On all the stadium dates, you will be required to bring your tickets, booking confirmation and credit card, plus a valid form of ID or you will not be granted entry to the show."

Best wear a bum bag then - luckily, as Glasto proved, they're so hot right now.

    Paolo NutiniImage source, WATCHTOWER MEDIA

Scottish singer Paolo Nutini has been found not guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol in his home town of Paisley.

The 30-year-old had denied driving while more than twice the legal limit on 21 February.

Nutini had used "the hip flask defence", which suggested he had drunk alcohol after he had driven rather than before getting in the car.

A Scottish Police Authority forensic toxicologist had told the trial that "post-incident drinking" could increase alcohol readings.

    BBC 6 Music

New Order discuss their series of gigs at the Manchester International Festival

The annual 18-day arts event kicks off today with a set by some local legends at the Old Granada Studios.

The band are also playing five gigs across the festival alongside visual artist Liam Gillick.

The gig will apparently "deconstruct, rethink, and rebuild the band's expansive catalogue for 1,200 lucky souls."

What that means is the band will perform with a 12-strong synthesizer ensemble from the Royal Northern College of Music and help create a fully-immersive experience for the crowd.

But be warned - to avoid disappointment - they will "definitely not play Blue Monday."

They've been talking to 6 Music about how it came about.
