    The British singer-songwriter has come back with a new track Hurricanes and has announced her first tour in 15 years.

    Dido shot to fame 18 years ago when a young rapper called Eminem sampled her in one of his best known tracks Stan.

    She even appeared in the video for the song.

    Her last new music was in 2013, the album Girls Who Got Away which featured another then-little known rappper Kendrick Lamar.

    She can pick them alright.

    Carlotta Cosials from the Spanish indie quartet, external departed the world of the smokers with an epic sign off yesterday.

    The singer/guitarist posted one last image of her enjoying a ciggy - or 'piti' in Spanish - for the last time as she vowed to move forward smoke free.

    She encouraged fans to join her in her pursuit of a healthier life.

    The Scottish snapper - known for his fashion work and celeb portraits - has provided the visuals for the boyband's nostalgia tip Nineties.

    In the video James, Charlie and Matt wear their best white outfits for Top of the Pops, play the roles of NIrvana, the Gladiators and dressed in classic mid-90s dayglo threads.

    They first collaborated with Rankin on the press shots for their 2016 reunion tour and he also shot the cover for their new album, Half Way There, which is due out on in February.

    "What I loved about doing it was how many of the team in my office were fans of the band and wanted to be in the video," said Rankin.

    The singer received some unexpected attention from Star Wars actor Mark Hamill after he inadvertently tweeted the name of her new single Thank U, Next.

    Ariana couldn't contain her excitement, tweeting: "I can't breathe."

    Mark later explained he didn't realise he'd quoted the name of her single and went on to call Ariana "one of the most popular artists in the history of showbiz".

    Ariana shared her excitement with fans, saying that "honest to God I'm not okay rn".

    Rumours that Ariana's next single will be called The Empress Strikes Back are unconfirmed and likely to be false*.

  8. The music from Bagpuss is being released on vinylpublished at 14:24 GMT 12 November 2018

    This will mean nothing to anyone born after 1980 and everything to anyone born before then.

    Music from the children's TV series about a pink toy cat which came to life at night, alongside his pals Gabriel the frog, Madeleine the doll and bookend Professor Yaffle, is to be released on vinyl.

    The recordings, featuring Sandra Kerr and John Faulkner, go back to 1973 and as well as the main songs from the 13-episodes, the release includes alternate versions, outtakes and discussion between creator Oliver Postgate, Sandra and John.

    The Music from Bagpuss will be released on the 18 November 2018.

    In other football-related weekend Britpop 'bants', Oasis legend Liam Gallagher has been goading fellow Mancunian rocker John Squire of The Stone Roses.

    Ennio Morricone, who has written more than 500 scores for movies and TV, including Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, has denied slagging off the filmmaker in an an interview with Playboy Germany.

    The 90-year-old composer, who won an Oscar for Tarantino’s Western, was apparently quoted as saying Tarantino was a “chaotic” director on set and lacked originality.

    “This is totally false,” said Morricone in a statement.

    “I have not given an interview to Playboy Germany and even more, I have never called Tarantino 'cretin' and certainly do not consider his films garbage."

    He added he has instructed his lawyer to take civil action against the publication.

    MNL has asked Playboy for a comment.

    Glastonbury Festival organiser, Emily Eavis, has hinted a "great British artist" will headline at the 2019 festival.

    Speaking at BBC Music Introducing Live, external she revealed the Friday headliner "hasn't had a stage like this before".

    Emily said: "We have got one of the artists that I'm most excited about in Britain right now," she said.

    "This to me is going to be a moment. And he can become the enormous person that he is, do you know what I mean?"

  13. Sade shares new track from director Steve McQueen's moviepublished at 12:17 GMT 12 November 2018

    The singer has shared The Big Unknown, which is taken from the British director's forthcoming heist movie Widows.

    “It was an honour to work with such a legend,” said Oscar-winner McQueen, calling Sade "an incomparable talent and incredible artist".

    The film, based on a BBC drama, tells the story of four women forced to pull off a robbery to pay the debts of their late husbands.

    While no-one could accuse the reclusive singer of being prolific, this is the second song to see the light of day this year. Prior to that her last new music was in 2011.

    Earlier in 2018 Sade released Flower of the Universe from Ava DuVernay’s fantasy movie A Wrinkle in Time.

    The rock and roll legend, who died in 1977, is one of seven people to be honoured with a Presidential Medal of Freedom - one of the highest civilian honours in the US - from Donald Trump.

    There is another posthumous nod for New York Yankees baseball great Babe Ruth - who died in 1948, two years after Trump's birth.

    The medal is handed out to those who have made "exceptional contributions to American life, world peace or culture."

    "Elvis Presley defined American culture to billions of adoring fans around the world," said a White House statement, which also took care to note his military service.

    The Mancunian miserablist had to cut short his encore on Saturday night in San Diego, after fans stormed the stage.

    Check out the chaotic scenes below - courtesy of local station NBC7 - as Moz's attempts to sing 1988 track Everyday is Like Sunday had to be abandoned while security stepped in.

    In a statement, his manager said the incident was not malicious, denying the 59-year-old was attacked, as had been initially reported by some outlets.

    On his official Facebook page, external, manager Peter Katsis wrote: “Nobody tried to punch M last night.

    "Morrissey's fans are not malicious.

    "The fans were simply doing what they have been doing for almost 30 years. Trying anything they could do to jump onstage and touch him, or hug him.

    The fan in question was certainly more aggressive in reaching out for him than most, so security had to do their job and subdue the fan. That's all it was. In the end no one was hurt, and no one was arrested.

    In today's news-which-can't-really-surprise-anyone, the ladies have added extra dates to their 2019 reunion tour.

    The new shows will be in London, Coventry and Manchester, kicking off at the Etihad Stadium in on 29 May.

    They will play two additional dates at Wembley Stadium in London and a further show at the Ricoh Arena on 4 June.

    The Aerosmith guitarist is reported to be getting treatment after experiencing shortness of breath following a surprise onstage appearance at a Billy Joel show at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday.

    According to TMZ, external, the 68-year-old collapsed in his dressing room after performing Walk This Way with Joel and his band.

    In a statement to Rolling Stone on Sunday, his spokesman said: “Following a guest performance during Billy Joel’s show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital.

    “This morning Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive.".

    Two years ago, Perry was taken to hospital after becoming ill on stage at another gig in New York.

    He had been performing with his side project the Hollywood Vampires, alongside Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper in Brooklyn.

    Canadian rocker Neil Young has lost his house to the wildfires sweeping through California.

    At least 31 people are known to have died, with more than 200 people still unaccounted for, officials have said.

    It now equals the deadliest wildfire on record in the West Coast state - the 1933 Griffith Park disaster in Los Angeles.

    As well as Young, Lady Gaga was evacuated from her home.

    The Star is Born singer/actor posted that she was "thinking so deeply for everyone who is suffering," adding that she was "wondering if my home will burst into flames."

    Gaga also praised the firefighters for their "bravery."

    California: Wildfires continue to spread across state

    Other music stars including Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke also had their homes destroyed by the blaze.

    Kevin Parker from Tame Impala saw the home studio that he works from gutted as well. He posted the below pic of his former workspace, alongside the following message:

    "RIP to all this gear (and someone’s beautiful house) in Malibu. I made it out with my laptop and the Hofner.

    "My heart breaks for the wildlife."

    Young also joined the likes of Rod Stewart, Katy Perry in criticising US President Donald Trump's reaction to the wildfires.

    Trump took the opportunity to attack the agency responsible for fire protection in California for alleged "gross mismanagement of the forests".

    “Firefighters have never seen anything like this in their lives," said Young.

    “We are vulnerable because of Climate Change; the extreme weather events and our extended drought is part of it.
