You Gov, external polls are often helpful in gauging public opinion on some of the hottest topics of the day, like war, politics, education and who's the best character from Friends.

This latest poll is no exception.

With the Spice Girls set to return as animated superheroes in a new movie, You Gov has asked more than 31,000 Brits who their favourite member of the band is.

We all have our own personal favourites but turns out Baby Spice (above) is the most popular across the country, with a whopping 37% of the vote.

Sporty came in second on 23%, with Scary (look away now Mel B) proving to be the least popular.

However, better news for the Yorkshire lass is that 'girl power' is apparently strongest among those who say she's their favourite. Those who favoured Scary were most happy to describe themselves as "feminists". Make that 31% in fact.

While 83-90% of those with a favourite Spice Girl believe in gender equality, only a minority on the whole would describe themselves as a “feminist”.

Friendship, it seems, is most important to those who prefer Posh. So if you wanna get with Victoria you've got to get with her friends basically, as hubby David will no doubt testify.

  11. George Ezra: 'I struggled to accept fame'published at 13:16 BST 9 April 2018

    Mark Savage
    Music reporter, BBC News

"Every gig I ever play, I promise myself I'm going to be the cool pop star," says George Ezra.

"But I'm just not that person. After two songs, I'm grinning from ear to ear."

That grin is infectious. When Ezra played in London earlier this week, the whole room lit up with smiles as the audience gleefully sang back every word of his bouncy, ebullient pop songs.

But the 24-year-old's easygoing style doesn't win him any favours with critics.

The Guardian dismissed his new album, external, Staying At Tamara's, as "unchallenging" and "unflinchingly polite" - an assessment built on the myth that music's only worthwhile if it's edgy or miserable.

"It's very easy to get big ideas about, 'I'm going to have this haircut, I'm going to start doing this and that,'" agrees Ezra. "But unless you look comfortable and natural, none of it will make sense.

"So instead of trying to appeal to a group of people that aren't interested anyway, why not just do what you do well and be comfortable with it?"

That approach has worked in his favour. Staying At Tamara's is the fastest-selling album so far this year, swooping into the number one slot last weekend, just as Ezra set off on tour.

The 33-year-old Essex singer came in for some ribbing online (and at the hands of Brits host Jack Whitehall) last year after he tweeted live updates of an apparent terror attack that didn't actually happen.

“Everyone get out of Selfridges now, gun shots! I’m inside”, he tweeted at the time to his 8.5 million followers.

He told the Sun, external: “Whether they were shooting into the air, or whatever, something happened that day - whether it was covered up, I don’t know.

    “It’s all a bit murky.”

Olly, who was shopping for a massage chair for his aunt at the time, added: “One minute I’m sitting there and this guy’s saying, ‘If you press this button you get a massage’ - the next I’m getting thrown against a wall.

“I ran for my life thinking ‘Someone’s upstairs shooting.’ The noise of people screaming, it was terrifying.”
