We're off home for an early night after all the weekend fun from Wireless, Pride, Hyde Park, TRNSMT and beyond.

Scroll down for more on all that plus Mariah's summer trip to Blackpool being off until next year), Zayn doing his best Elvis impersonation (again not on Blackpool pier) and Gorillaz ending their set abruptly after Del The Funky Homosapien fell off stage.

Plus Boy G says - or rather sings - that football is coming home but Noel G is certain that it isn't.

We're staying firmly on the fence.

See you all tomorrow for more of the same.

Another new music video for you, as a bunch of wildly overdressed people get their groove on beneath a flyover in Johannesburg and at Ridley Road market in Hackney, east London.

It helps that those people are made up of some very famous musicians.

Rudimental, Major Lazer Anne-Marie & Mr Eazi to be precise

Check out the video for Let Me Live above.

The best part-y about a street party like this is that the tidying up part is absolutely minimal.

  3. Pale Waves: Playing with The Cure is 'unreal'...published at 15:08 BST 9 July 2018

...But like Robert Smith, the band say they're 'not pure goths' either

The hard-working Manchester pop rockers were on stage early at Hyde Park on Saturday at The Cure's 40th anniversary event, before heading off to play another gig elsewhere.

It's fair to say they were excited, describing it as "a big moment for us" and probably "the highlight" of the summer so far.

We caught up with the band, who have been putting the finishing touches on their debut album, just after soundcheck, where they had been "getting pictures, like a family!"

"Playing on the same stage as Robert Smith is pretty unreal," said singer Heather Baron-Gracie.

    Quote Message

We love The Cure so much, our band have been inspired by them quite a lot so to be be able to stand in the same position is insane. We feel so lucky to be asked to play it.

Robert Smith: "Love you too Heather x"

The P Waves played just ahead of England's 2-0 win over Sweden but Heather confessed she's not massively bothered about the beautiful game.

"I didn't even know the World Cup was happening until I noticed all the England flags," she joked.

"I mean I hope we win, but I'm not passionate about football really."

Aside from their catchy odes to lovelorn youth, the band, who will also play Reading + Leeds Festival this summer, have drawn comparisons to The Cure regarding their darker tastes in fashion.

Robert Smith never seemed to care much for the term goth in interviews down the years and it seems that Heather feels the same.

    Quote Message

We're definitely influenced by Gothic fashion and dark fashion but I wouldn't say I'm a pure goth! I mean I'm wearing white pants right now, so...

The gospel-tinged new single is taken from the Irish band's forthcoming album, Politics Of Living.

The cinematic video was directed by James Fitzgerald and you can check it out above.

Bassist Jason Boland said: "He’s produced a world class video for us and we look forward to working with him and his crew again in the future."

The apparently rather generous band play four free UK shows this week as a thank you to fans - in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow - who pre-ordered the record.

    Know your audience George.

The crowd at The Tobin Center of Performing Arts in San Antonio, Texas were treated to the singer and his band Culture Club leading them in a rendition of Three Lions at the weekend.

George is clearly more optimistic than Noel G.

The gig, on Saturday night, followed England’s win over Sweden to reach to the World Cup semi-final.

Spot the confused faces in the crowd as a) football is soccer in the States and b) they've never heard of Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.

Music sounds better in the sunshine.

There's no scientific evidence for that, but it's a fact.

And with the UK in the middle of a heatwave, it's time to indulge in one of music's purest pleasures - the summer song.

Whether it's frothy and euphoric or laid-back and relaxed, every year produces one song that defines the season.

Last year, it was Luis Fonsi's Despacito. The year before it was Drake's One Dance. But who will take the crown in 2018?

We asked some of BBC Music's experts to select the song that's soundtracking their barbecues, pool parties and road trips.

Noel G: "Pep - tell them where football's going will you..."

Like at most gigs this weekend, chants of "it's coming home" rang out around Scarborough's Open Air Theatre on Friday night, in between songs by the former Oasis chief.

The chants of course referring to England's continued World Cup success, as soundtracked by Frank Skinner and co's 90s terrace hit., external The team's decisive World Cup quarter-final victory over Sweden was watched by nearly 20 million viewers on BBC One, according to overnight figures.

Not one to be swayed by the crowd though, Noel responded by saying: "Seriously though, it so isn't.

"You know it and I know it."

This drew boos from the crowd and also a written rebuke online from his apparently more patriotic estranged brother who managed to get a dig in at Noel's Scottish wife, Sara McDonald.

"I was relying on booze to get me through the day, every day" he told our music reporter Mark Savage.

"I'd started drinking on my own when I couldn't find anybody to go out with. The fun element disappeared pretty rapidly, and I was just doing it out of compulsion.

"Then it starts to affect not just your health but your temper - I had a really short fuse - and your mental health. All sorts of things."

Snow Patrol released their latest lalbum Wildness in May. An album which Gary admitted may never have happen due to his booze-induced writer's block.

"There were plenty of times I thought, 'Well maybe that's it - I've written all my songs,'" he added.

Unlike many people this weekend, New York post-punk rockers Interpol did not let their sartorial standards slip in the searing sunshine, as they provided the main support at The Cure's 40th anniversary gig (scroll down for more on that one).

Drummer Sam Fogarino (pictured below) spoke to MNL just prior to going on stage about their new single, The Rover, which you may have heard on 6 Music of late, as well as their forthcoming sixth album, Marauder.

On Friday, meanwhile, the BBC's Neil Smith saw Roger Waters (below) get the British Summer Time , externalfortnight off to a flying (pig) start with a bombastic set full of Pink Floyd classics.

Wish You Were Here, The Great Gig in the Sky and Another Brick in the Wall - accompanied by a posse of grinning kids in orange prison jumpsuits - were the highlights on a night during which Waters, 74, took copious potshots at a certain world leader soon to visit our shores.

“Trump is a pig,” read one of the somewhat unsubtle messages flashed up on a giant screen that variously showed The Donald as a mewling toddler and a member of the KKK when it wasn’t dramatically transforming itself into Battersea Power Station.

Drizzy played a surprise half-hour set at Wireless Festival in London's Finsbury Park on Sunday night.

The unscheduled (if you ignored all of the rumours last week) appearance came after it was announced DJ Khaled had pulled out of his headline set.

The singer/rapper came out at the end of grime artist Giggs' slot with the pair playing their collaboration KMT, as they did last year at Reading Festival.

Drake also played tracks from his new double album Scorpion - which went to number one on Friday - including God's Plan, I'm Upset and Nice For What?
