Don't be getting all weepy on us.

You don't need to miss us, simply scroll down to your heart's content for some pithy advice from rapper/philosopher Kanye West, some alternative views from Morrissey (and the subsequent backlash) and lots more, including Zayn's latest dumping, Taylor's stalker and M.I.A.'s big interview with her pal and actor/rapper Riz Ahmed.

We'll leave you with a bit of classic Tears for Fears, to soften the blow of today's gig cancellations.

Cool points if you can name the cult indie film from 2002 that a cover of this track famously featured in.

    No cheating now.

    Laters.

  4. How does Tina Turner rate her own musical?published at 15:09 BST 18 April 2018

Tina and Tina: Spot the difference

"A lot of people have asked me why I wanted to make a musical. I always found it a little difficult to answer... because I don't."

It might not be the ringing endorsement you'd normally expect from a celebrity whose life story has just been turned into a new stage show, especially in its official programme, but Tina Turner isn't one to sugarcoat her opinions.

The singer made a rare public appearance to attend the premiere of Tina: The Musical at London's Aldwych Theatre on Tuesday evening.

With the world's press in attendance, pressure was already high for the cast. Then, before the show even started, the audience rose to their feet and cheered as Turner took her seat.

But the musical appeared not only to win over critics - but Turner herself too.

"Well first of all, it's difficult to see someone else do what we did for 40 years. I'm a perfectionist, so I look a little bit critically," Turner told BBC News after the show.

    Quote Message

But when I look and see it done so well, I feel proud. And I feel like I'm sending someone - sorry I'm getting emotional - I'm really sending someone out that's going to do a good job and make me proud.

That someone is Adrienne Warren - a Virginia-born actress who previously appeared in Dreamgirls, Bring It On: The Musical and Netflix's Orange is the New Black.

Speaking after the show, Warren said: "I'm just so happy that [Tina] approves of our work and I'm just so excited to share this story, because she is absolutely the best, and I know that sounds cliche."

(Full marks for slipping a Tina Turner song title into her answer.)

One thing we can say for certain is that if it isn't pointing to new music then none of us are interested.

The singer - who is set to appear in the new Ocean's 8 film this summer - released her last album Anti over two years ago and since then we've only had the Pharrell collab Lemon to wrap our ears around.

"I still refuse to go to a festival that is owned by someone who is anti-LGBT and pro-gun".

Those were the words from British model Cara Delevingne as she explained her decision to boycott Coachella to her 41m fans on Instagram on Sunday.

Delevingne, a supporter of gay rights, added she should be "allowed to shame that man and the festival and still show my appreciation of an artist at the same time".

In response to the model's remarks, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) released a statement saying it "wholeheartedly" supports the LGBT community.

Where have we heard some of these inspirational aphorisms before?

  20. Backlash over Morrissey's latest commentspublished at 09:44 BST 18 April 2018

We tried to ignore this one yesterday but it seems the more you ignore him the closer he gets.

There's been a huge backlash against the Mancunian miserablist regarding his latest comments about Adolf Hitler and a few others in an interview given to his own website., external

(So even Moz can't deny this one - can he?)

In the interview, given to John Riggers, the singer denounced halal meat as "evil", attacked the Prime Minister Theresa May, London Mayor Sadiq Khan ("he cannot talk properly!”), Labour MP Diane Abbott and - perhaps most shockingly - described Hitler as "left wing".

"And as far as racism goes, the modern loony left seem to forget that Hitler was left wing!" he said.

But of course, we are all called racist now, and the word is actually meaningless. It’s just a way of changing the subject.

In the article he also aligned his own personal politics with that of right wing group For Britain; a far-right minor political party founded by the anti-Islam activist Anne Marie Waters.

The former Smiths man spoke out in support of Waters during a live performance for the BBC Broadcast last year.

The latest rant comes just a few months after Morrissey denied having having made controversial comments about the Hollywood sexual assault scandal, claiming he was misquoted by German publication Der Spiegel - who responded by going public with the audio of the interview.

It seems many people have enough of the singer now and that his jokes just aren't funny anymore.
