  3. Watch Jay-Z honour 'beacon of light' Trayvon Martinpublished at 15:18 GMT 12 February 2018

There were demonstrations across America after unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was fatally shot in by neighbourhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, in Florida in 2012.

Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder and later put the gun used on the youngster up for auction.

The Miami teenager's shooting prompted the first use of the hashtag "Black Lives Matter."

This weekend, on the eve of the anniversary of Martin's death, Jay-Z stood alongside his family and delivered a speech to hundreds of marchers at the annual Peace Walk & Peace Talk in Miami.

"We want to make sure that we stand and support and never forget that Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to the people out here," said the rapper.

"So you guys will never have to go through the pain and hurt that these guys went through."

Watch footage of the speech below, in which Jay goes on to compare Trayvon's legacy to that of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi, in the fight for peace and equality.

That’s the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope to push us in a better direction, so thank you guys for your support. Thank you for being here.

  4. How Ed Sheeran stopped worrying about being fatpublished at 15:09 GMT 12 February 2018

    Ed SheeranImage source, Reuters

When he's not worrying about shifting tickets for his Biggest Weekend gig, or one of his pals misspelling a tattoo on his arm (scroll down) Ed Sheeran is - like a lot us - stressed about his body image.

    Or at least he was...

Those days are over now as Ed's says he's stopped worrying about his weight after feeling pressure to slim down early in his career. At one point, he started a strict diet after comparing his body image unfavourably to "people like Justin Bieber or the One Direction lot".

"I was like, 'they're so photogenic and they've got six packs... and I should look like that,'" he said.

"But should I actually care if I'm fat or not? No-one's bought my records based on me looking a certain way."

The star was speaking on a new podcast by fellow musician George Ezra, external.

"I had zero insecurities before I became a singer - and I was born with ginger hair," the Shape of You star joked.

    Quote Message

I didn't care. I'd have a beer belly, ginger hair, wouldn't wash and wear scraggly clothes.

"But as soon as you become in the public eye and people start picking holes in you, you start thinking things are bad for you. Like, 'Am I fat?'"

Earlier we brought you a re-worked Imagine from the opening ceremony.

Well worth a scroll down for that beauty.

Some sports fans over the weekend were left querying some of the other musical selections in Pyeongchang.

The choice of Paul Anka's jazz/swing cover of Wonderwall by one figure skater in particular raised a few eye brows.

Presumably he couldn't clear the rights for either:

    1. The Oasis original
    2. Ryan Adams' bluesy version
    3. Mike Flowers' infamous pop effort

Either way they are on thin ice, musically speaking.

Elsewhere viewers in the US have apparently grown weary of the excessive use of Coldplay to soundtrack events in South Korea.

In the last couple of years, Migos, Gucci Mane and Wacka Flocka have all sought the services of one, 58-year-old dad who's become an indispensable figure in the world of Atlanta Rap.

His name is Drew Findling, and he's become known as the #billiondollarlawyer. Amongst his court victories, he secured Mane's early release from prison, and helped get weapons charges against Migos star Offset dropped.

Although he's not a rap fan, he's become a key part of the scene - and the New York Times ran a profile of the humble, often-Instagrammed lawyer over the weekend.

"He always tries to prevent me from doing dumb stuff - not even criminal stuff, but just in life,” Offset told the newspaper. “I really feel I can trust him.”

    It's quite a remarkable story.

  8. Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon Go Westpublished at 13:43 GMT 12 February 2018

Paul Rudd in the video for King Of Wishful ThinkingImage source, NBC

Here's a funny one for with your falafel this lunch time...

For reasons best known to themselves, Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd spent an entire day of their lives making a shot-by-shot remake of Go West's King Of Wishful Thinking video.

The original featured on the soundtrack to Julia Roberts' Pretty Woman, and became the UK duo's biggest hit in the US (in the UK, their debut single We Close Our Eyes was the bigger single).

It's become tradition for Rudd to remake old videos when he appears on Fallon's chat show - going as far as to re-record the original vocals.

Last time, the duo donned fulsome 80s moustaches to re-stage Styx's absurd clip for Too Much Time on My Hands, external - but the Go West video is possibly even more surreal.

"Do you think there were storyboards to that video?" Rudd asked. "They really went into a white empty space and said, 'We have hockey players. We got ballet dancers. We have a guy that kinda looks like Roy Orbison on a catamaran.'"

You can compare the two clips below. One thing you'll note is that Fallon's budget didn't stretch to hiring an elephant.

The rapper - who kicked off the UK leg of his tour this weekend in Birmingham, following rave reviews in Dublin, has been heavily involved in the soundtrack to the Marvel movie Black Panther

“And at the same time they’re stealing from African artists."

  14. Cardi B: 'Anything a man can do, I can do'published at 11:35 GMT 12 February 2018

    Cardi BImage source, Getty Images

Rapper, record-breaker and larger-than-life personality Cardi B is on the cover of the latest I-D magazine and, naturally, she has a few things to say.

The interview covers everything from her former career as a stripper to her upcoming wedding and racism in Trump's America.

Here's some of the best quotes:

    On feminism

“Being a feminist is such a great thing and some people feel like someone like me can’t be as great as that. They think feminism is great and only a woman that can speak properly, that has a degree, who is a boss, a businessperson… they think only Michelle Obama can be a feminist. But being a feminist is real simple... Anything a man can do, I can do."

    On racism

"If you’re a little scrawny man raised in a trailer in Alabama somewhere, of course you’re scared right now. That’s why they own guns! They’re scared of the intelligence of the minority. We are controlling the music industry. We control the fashion world. When you see the Olympics, who always wins? Coloured folks. We win everything."

    On stripping

"The first time I stripped I was really embarrassed. I felt like I could hear my parents in the back of my mind.

"Sometimes a man would caress me on my arm and I would hear them breathe so heavy in my ear. It just disgusted me."

  16. Arrival composer Johan Johannsson diespublished at 10:52 GMT 12 February 2018

    Johan JohannssonImage source, PA

Jóhann Jóhannsson, the Oscar-nominated composer for The Theory of Everything, Sicario and Arrival, has died at the age of 48.

The Icelandic musician was found dead at his apartment in Berlin, his manager confirmed to Variety magazine, external.

His music redefined the way we think of film scores - employing atmospheric sound textures as often as traditional instruments. On Arrival, for example, a lot of the percussion is played by hitting timber with mallets - evoking the primitive nature of human language, which is one the film's main themes.

You can hear him explain his approach to that film in this fascinating episode of Song Exploder.

Fellow film composers Nils Frahm and Clint Mansell were among those paying tribute at the weekend.
