"He walked off stage and stood next to me and I was like, 'Alright how are you?'" said Matt.

"'Oh, very well thanks, are you enjoying the show?'"

The Canadian slacker-rock star is playing a show at Dreamland in Margate, Kent this summer.

He's headlining the day-long event on 29 June, as well as co-curating the lineup which will be announced soon.

Dreamland is one of the oldest surviving amusement parks in the UK and Gorillaz have previously played there.

Anyone in the UK who listens to 6 Music will be aware of his gravelly tones but the punk rock legend has been tapped to play the voice of Nothing in a new art house film.

  7. Childish Gambino settles legal action with former labelpublished at 14:52 GMT 4 March 2019

    Variety

    Donald GloverImage source, Getty Images

The Grammy-winning rapper, singer and actor has apparently agreed a deal to end his fight with his former label, Glassnote Records, over streaming royalties.

Last year, the label alleged the artist - also known as Donald Glover - was trying to claim 100% of streaming royalties from a streaming service called SoundExchange.

It said it was owed 50%, and that Glover and featured artists and producers were due the remaining half.

In his counterclaim, Glover said Glassnote had underpaid various royalties and charged inappropriate expenses.

Variety now reports that both sides have agreed to drop their suits but other terms were not disclosed.

The Ivor Novello-winning rapper Dave is "just trying to focus on the positive" reaction to his latest track Black.

The song - a raw and emotional piece about being young, black and British - has divided some audiences since it came out in February.

DJs including Annie Mac have defended it being played on Radio 1, after some people texted in saying it was "racist" against white people.

But the 20-year-old has told Radio 1 Newsbeat a lot of the reaction to the song has "been really positive".

He adds: "If they take to it then they do - if they don't, then it's like that with all of my music.

"I don't necessarily have a massive opinion on that."

In what looks like a pretty diversionary tactic, the estate of the late singer posted a live concert film on to YouTube, during the US premiere of the controversial Leaving Neverland documentary last night.

The HBO doc alleges Jackson sexually abused boys - which his family have constantly denied.

It's probably no coincidence that the alternative Live In Bucharest film offering, posted 20 minutes in, was exactly the same length as part one of the film and available for a "limited time" only.

The plot thickens, as Variety points out, because a second concert film, Live at Wembley Stadium, is set to air at the same time as the second part of Leaving Neverland on Monday night.

It focuses on Wade Robson and Jimmy Safechuck, who allege that they were subjected to repeated sexual abuse by Jackson.

Jackson's family are suing HBO for $100m (£75m).

It is showing in the UK on Channel 4 this week.

    BBC Radio 5 live

More now on the death of Prodigy frontman Keith Flint.

Duncan Dick, the editor of long-running dance magazine Mixmag has told 5 live's Emma Barnett he was a one off.

"When Firestarter came out in the 90s electronic and dance music tended to be faceless producers and DJs and this was someone who brought a punk personality and huge energy to what was a faceless genre.

"It shifted the dialogue and changed how we thought about things."

As for the track's legendarily scary video, which showed the frontman lurking in a disused London underground tunnel, Dick added:

"It's easy to forget the moral panic, this figure with crazy hair bashing through walls in this incredible video.

"People thought it was the end of civilisation."

A cause of Flint's death has yet to be conformed by police but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Some rather shocking breaking news for you now as Keith Flint, the much-loved frontman of dance veterans The Prodigy, has been found dead in his home in Essex aged 49.

Tributs have bene paid to Janice Freeman, a former contestant on The Voice in the US, who died unexpectedly at the weekend.

Freeman passed away following "an extreme case of pneumonia" her family said.

Cyrus, who was judge on the show and mentored the singer, posted a photo of a rainbow on her Instagram story with "Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything. This represents you perfectly."

Fellow judge Jennifer Hudson wrote "the voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all!"
