Oh wait there he is. The Irish One D-turned-solo star pulls over safely on the side of the freeway to hang out with a mystery demin-clad lady in the sun in his latest solo music video.

On The Loose is the opening track from his US number one debut solo album Flicker from last year.

It was the record that begged one of the great questions, external of our time for any self-absorbed person with a leaky roof.

Now The Man Who, Travis's Brit-winning album of the year in 2000 will be played in its entirety up and down the land from 10 June.

You can check out the full dates above, but we can't help but think the Scottish band have somewhat overestimated the amount of time it takes to drive from Oxford to Portsmouth.

The same award was won this year by Stormzy's Gang Signs and Prayer and we wonder if he'll still be touring that 18 years from now?

  5. The Wu Tang Clan's $2m album has been seized by the courtpublished at 14:57 GMT 6 March 2018

    Martin ShkreliImage source, Getty Images

Remember this guy? His name is Martin Shkreli and he's the former pharmaceuticals CEO who earned the nickname “Pharma Bro” for hiking the price of an HIV treatment.

He famously bought the only copy of the Wu-Tang album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin for $2m in 2014 and then threatened to leak it online.

Last year, he was convicted of securities fraud and now a federal court has ruled that he must surrender the album which is in a silver-and-nickel-plated box with 174-page liner notes bound by hand in leather.

His other assets include an unreleased Lil Wayne album.

Don’t expect anyone to be hear them any time soon though as they will both apparently be auctioned to another rich guy with more money than sense.

  6. Mahalia releases revealing new video featuring Little Simzpublished at 14:38 GMT 6 March 2018

    MahaliaImage source, Getty Images

Mahalia has dropped a cool new video for her track Proud of Me, which features rapper and part-time Gorillaz member, Little Simz.

The track finds the Leicestershire singer hanging on the street, at home and in the studio, while baring her soul about her musical dreams.

The track is interspersed with interview clips of the singer explaining more about her childhood influences and ambitions.

"I wanted the song to feel universal," she says.

"Because though this song is personal and it's about me and my journey, me picking up my acoustic guitar at 13 and starting to write all these songs...

    Quote Message

I wanted people to sing that chorus and feel like it was anthemic and feel like they could say 'brothers and sister, I wanna make you proud'.

    Job done.

Unfortunately there's a couple of swear words in the video so you'll have to take our word for it or go and find it for yourselves on her YouTube page.

Anyone who followed our Brit Awards coverage will remember that a slightly-sozzled Damon Albarn brought collaborator Little Simz up on stage with his band Gorillaz to collect their award for best British Group.

Which is an utter, utter travesty.

"For fun we thought we’d share the rough storyboards of what would have been a fully shot, star-studded music video of exorbitant cost."

Below is the splendid result, called Why Not Me?, in which the stars of some of the biggest blockbuster hits of 2017 lament their lack of Oscar nominations.

The town of Bathgate in West Lothian is famous for being the site of the world's first commercial oil-works, the birthplace of Doctor Who actor David Tennant and the band Goodbye Mr Mackenzie - who featured a pre-fame Shirley Manson, external.

Now it can add singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi to its ranks.

But if music and fame hadn't come calling, it could have been very different for the 21-year-old.

"I would have been homeless, there was a brief period from 16-18 where my fall back was going out to get pissed, that was the only other thing that was going on in my life.

"My dad owns fish shops so I would have been a fishmonger but I was [rubbish] at that, I had one trial shift at an ice cream stall at a shopping centre in Livingston.

"I was there for an hour, my shift was meant to be twelve till four... in my defense, each scoop had to be a certain weight, I was like 'bugger that'."

Still, the ice cream industry's loss was music's gain as Lewis has caught the ears of BBC Music Introducing, which helped put him in the Sound of 2018 longlist.

Lewis' song Bruises (above) is destined to become his signature track.

For his tender years, Lewis boasts a gravel-gargling voice that can be best described as a cross between Joe Cocker, Rag'N' Bone Man and Paolo Nutini ("I had his album constantly on repeat so he's someone who definitely influenced me to start writing songs")

Something, he says, for which his father takes full credit.

"My mum doesn't sing or doing anything like that, my dad always likes to bring up the one time that he was in a school play... he'll say, ''Oh, you got your voice from me you know'. I don't know what he's talking about."

One of three brothers, Lewis began playing guitar at the age of nine, purely as a reaction to his older brother, an electrical engineer and amateur musician being allowed to play

"My big brother was always in bands growing up and when he started playing guitar, it wasn't like, 'Oh my brother's playing guitar, that's amazing'.

"No, it was, 'If he's getting to play the guitar then I'm getting to play, get me lessons, give me a go'."

More than a decade later, the rivalry is still strong.

"I won't say he's a proud older brother 'cause he'll kill me. I know for a fact that he once covered Bruises at an open mic night and part of me thinks he was like, 'No, watch this, I'll sing it better.'"

Lewis' debut EP Bloom was released in October shortly before he joined the aforementioned Rag ’N' Bone Man on his European tour and won a breakthrough prize at the Scottish Music Awards.

He found himself on a plane to New York to work with producer Malay - who produced Frank Ocean's debut album and his follow up Blonde, as well as Lorde's Grammy-nominated Melodrama and Zayn's debut album.

"The song we wrote called Fade, which is my favourite song on the EP, just fell out, it's the only way I can describe it.

    Quote Message

He started playing chords and I started mumbling stuff over it, on the second day we recorded it and that's how you hear it.

    Quote Message

It's mental. I went from doing pub gigs in a year to going to New York to work with Malay, it sums up how wild that year was.

Singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi admits his nerves ahead of his biggest London show

We spoke to the singer as he prepared to play his biggest London show to date, at the 1,200 capacity Scala in Kings Cross:

He need not have been so worried, within ten minutes the venue was shaking from the volume of fans singing his songs back to him.

To inspire such devotion off the back of a single EP is pretty impressive.

Lewis is now planning work on his debut album which he wants to record in Los Angeles ("just 'cause it's warm!") and West Lothian as "it would be cool to say we did part of it at home".

"In my head, I feel like I could write one more song, two more songs but my managers keep saying, 'Okay, you realise we need to go and record this now.

    Quote Message

Even now, I feel like someone's going to tap me on the shoulder and say, 'Right, you're not meant to be doing this, back to Bathgate'.

Catherine Marks, newly-crowned UK producer of the year, believes that a new generation of female producers is about to break through.

The Big Moon producer, who was decorated at the recent MPG Awards, said: "Change is happening."

Her prediction comes after several festivals signed up to Keychange's pledge, external to make music festival line-ups a 50/50 gender split by 2022 and after Talking Head David Byrne (scroll down) apologised for his all-male new album.

Now, the women behind the music look set to receive more equal opportunities.

Catherine, who helped all-girl band The Big Moon to a Mercury Prize nomination for their album Love in the 4th Dimension, said: "I think there's a lot of women who started either around the same time as I did or about five years ago who are getting recognised and a lot more are getting involved.

“This lack of representation is something that is problematic and wide spread in our industry. I regret not hiring and collaborating with women for this album - it’s ridiculous, it’s not who I am and it certainly doesn’t match how I’ve worked in the past.

“I never thought of myself as being ‘one of those guys,’ but I guess to some extent I am. Your responses serve as a corrective. Thank you."
