    So that's it for today.

While people in the UK have been wrestling over TV sets and cashmere beanies, across the pond Miley Cyrus has been sleeping off her tofurkey baby and Taylor Swift has been wondering what next for world domination....

No doubt we'll have more from T-Swizz next week.

But for now, it's (almost) Friday night - so whether you are a weary worker or shopper, remember to put the tablet down and your feet up for a spot of Craig David co-hosting on #slfn, where he'll be joined by Anne Marie and the Killers.

    Have a lovely weekend.

  2. 5 Things We Learned This Weekpublished at 15:51 GMT 24 November 2017

Here we go then, our weekly list of things we have learned this week.

Stuff like... Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age(above) who was ticked off for having a crafty puff on stage and the fact Despacito now comes in Mandarin.

Here are more below... 5 more to be precise...

    1) Morrissey can't let the chance go by to same something controversial

No stranger to a controversial view or ten, Morrissey started the week by voicing his support for disgraced actor Kevin Spacey.

Spacey, along with producer Harvey Weinstein and other men in Hollywood has been accused of serial sexual harassment.

Morrissey told German news site Spiegel Online, external: “It doesn’t quite ring true to me, and it seems to me like he’s been unnecessarily attacked."

Speaking about Spacey's accuser, who was 14 at the time of the alleged 1986 incident, Morrissey, went on: “You have to wonder where the boy’s parents were.

He also appeared to accuse other alleged victims of acting out of opportunism.

"You also must wonder if people know exactly what’s happening, and they go along with it, but then when it’s happened, they find that they’re either really embarrassed or they didn’t really like it, so then they go reverse it and say, ‘I was ambushed, I was taken by surprise, I was dragged into the room.’

Unsurprisingly, many other musicians were unimpressed...

    2) Nick Cave and Roger Waters have probably left each other off their Christmas card lists

Nick accused Roger and the protest group UK Artists for Palestine, external of "censoring musicians", while performing the first of two gigs in Tel Aviv with his band the Bad Seeds.

They had written to Nick and his band to ask them to respect their cultural boycott of Israel, having previously called on Radiohead to cancel a show in Tel Aviv.

At a press conference, Nick said artists "have to go through a sort of public humiliation from Roger Waters and co.“

"It suddenly became very important to make a stand against those people who are trying to shut down musicians, to bully musicians, to censor musicians, and to silence musicians," he added.

In response, Roger accused Nick of "arrogance" adding: "Nick, with all due respect, your music is irrelevant to this issue, so is mine, so is Brian Eno’s, so is Beethoven’s, this isn’t about music, it’s about human rights."

    Film director Ken Loach added:

“Nick Cave has a choice, either to stand with the oppressed Palestinians or the Israeli state which denies them their human rights. He chooses to stand with the oppressor.”

    3) Noel Fielding has 'disappeared' into the role of Alice Cooper

The Great British Bake Off host will play the shock rocker, better known to his friends as musician Vince Furnier, in the new series of Urban Myths - to be broadcast on the satellite channel.

That's him above as Alice, alongside David Suchet as Salvador Dali. Other than perhaps a little prosthetics around the nose, it looks pretty much like Noel in a tiara.

In another episode, comedian Jack Whitehall will play the late glam rocker Marc Bolan, opposite Luke Treadaway as David Bowie, as the pair meet pre-fame in their shared manager’s office.

The London three-piece were our featured artist for our new weekly feature Newbie Tuesday.

Singer and bassist Sophie told us: "We're trying to break the stereotypes of a 'rock musician'.

"The lyrics to that song pretty much sum up our thoughts in terms of how girls dress and act.

"You can do and be whatever you want to be. It doesn't matter if you wanna wear matching outfits and mini skirts you can still be bad ass and you can still be powerful."

  4. (What's the story) Trophy Glory?published at 15:24 GMT 24 November 2017

A non-league football team has turned to classic album covers - and film posters - in a bid to drum up more attendees to matches.

Leek Town FC, based in Staffordshire, currently sit eighth in the Northern Premier League Division One South - in the eighth tier of English football.

So tickets for matches aren't exactly sold out.

But the posters - the dreamchild of Leek Town fan Paul Buxton - have helped boost attendance by about 12% over the course of the last season.

The team even bases its match-day playlist on the band whose album cover they've used.

Imagine a day's footy based on the Sex Pistols? The mind boggles.

Originally part of the popular vocal trio Hendricks, Lambert & Ross, Hendricks was considered a pioneer of 'vocalese' - writing lyrics for originally instrumental songs.

He most recently worked on lyricising Miles Davis' seminal album Miles Ahead with the London Vocal Project - a vocalese project Hendricks had been working on since the 1960s.

Earlier this year, the London choir flew to New York to premiere the finished piece in front of the 96-year-old Hendricks.

LVP's Pete Churchill described him as "the godfather of vocalese, external". "If you are into vocalese, it's like meeting God," he said.

While, musically Noel has definitely taken a new direction, he's apparently also changed his tune on politics.

Back in the mid 90s, at the height of his old band's power Noel was frequently heard gushing over then new Labour leader Tony Blair.

At the 1996 Brit Awards, external, while accepting one of their three awards, NG told the crowd: "If you've all got anything about you, you'll go up there and you'll shake Tony Blair's hand, man. He's the man! Power to the people!"

He even partied at Number 10 after Tony got the Prime Minister gig, remember?

Now, two decades on it seems the slightly-more-jaded solo singer has grown weary of politicians.

The 50-year-old dad of three was more than happy to talk openly to us last week about music, football, life and even (briefly) brother Liam.

But when it comes to our world leaders - other than agreeing with his musical hero Sir Paul McCartney about the "madness" of the US President's climate change policy - the Mancunian rock star is simply not interested anymore.

"In the case of Donald Trump, I really get offended by the way that we're all supposed to have an opinion on the President of America," he said.

    Image caption,

"I prefer Noel's earlier stuff, don't you Vladimir?"

    Quote Message

The only thing that concerns me about Donald Trump is climate change because I've got kids and all that and it is madness but as a geezer I couldn't care less what he gets up to.

"Or the little fat fella in North Korea or the Russian fella or the little German granny. I'm not interested."

He added: "And I couldn't care less about Jeremy Corbyn, scruffy old donkey."

Last week, the singer/songwriter also told Noisey [Facebook Live] that the British public should "move on" from Brexit and "get over it".

If cosmic pop floats your boat more than political discourse though, then Noel's new album is probably still the one for you this weekend.

Seal will duet with the late Frank Sinatra in a new version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

  16. Simple Minds and Rick Astley headline Bestivalpublished at 10:25 GMT 24 November 2017

Simple Minds and Rick Astley have been announced as two of next year's headliners at Camp Bestival.

And for those who are a little more, shall we say 'modern', in their music tastes, Clean Bandit will complete the headline trio.

Meanwhile, Orbital and Basement Jaxx will showcase their tunes in the Big Top, and there will be sets from acts as diverse as Shed Seven and Jamaica's The Skatalites.

The annual do at Lulworth Castle is a popular family gig, so expect lots of mum moshing and dad dancing with live sets from Stereo MCs, The Undertones and the mighty Pop Will Eat Itself.

And the kids can enjoy sets from perennial Lulworth Castle favourites CBeebies' Mr Tumble and Dick and Dom.

Yes, we know July feels like a very long way away, but check out how excited Jim Kerr is...

Simple Minds are delighted to be performing at Camp Bestival next year

And who wouldn't be? Straight from the horse mouth we're sure...

We're also told there is pantomime, an insect circus and a gin festival too.

It's life, Jim - but not as you know it.

It's just as well there's a total capacity of just over 220,000 for Taylor's gigs as there will undoubtedly be a lot of disappointed people.

Taylor will play just three dates on these Isles next summer for her Reputation Stadium Tour.

She kicks off at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on 8 June, nips over to Dublin's Croke Park for 15 June before flying back over to London for a 22 June gig at Wembley Arena.

Looks like there are a few gaps in that schedule though, so be prepared for the possibility of an extra night if tickets sell out.

They will be available to the general public on 1 December but subscribers to her website will get first dibs on 29 November.

    Well, we certainly are.

It's Friday after all, which means several things - brand new music, a look back at what we've learned this week and... a massive Taylor Swift announcement.

Find out if she has announced a stadium gig near you, plus Camp Bestival makes an eighties-tastic headline announcement, Loyle Carner meets his hero Eric Cantona and there's a new job for Annie Lennox in the world of academia

If that will be all, let's get started...
