He was described as a "true, true icon" by Skepta and "my G" by Stormzy at last night's Q Awards (scroll down) so our #TBT today focuses on Mr L Gallagher.

Cast your minds back all the way to June this year when Liam duetted with Coldplay (whoever thought that would happen?)on the Oasis classic Live Forever at the One Love Manchester gig in aid of the victims of the Manchester Arena attack.

  8. Pussycat Dolls deny prostitution claimspublished at 14:17 BST 19 October 2017

    Pussycat DollsImage source, Getty Images

The Pussycat Dolls have issued a joint statement denying allegations the pop group was a front for a "prostitution ring".

Kaya Jones, who left the group before they became famous, has claimed she and other members were regularly subjected to sexual abuse.

"We are all abused," she said on Twitter, claiming the group were made to "sleep with whoever they say".

The Dolls, led by Nicole Scherzinger, said they "were not aware of Kaya's experiences" and offered her support.

However, they firmly denied the remaining members had been abused.

"We cannot stand behind false allegations towards other group members partaking in activities that simply did not take place," they said in a statement.

    Quote Message

To liken our professional roles in The Pussycat Dolls to a prostitution ring not only undermines everything we worked hard to achieve for all those years but also takes the spotlight off the millions of victims who are speaking up and being heard loud and clear around the world.

Damon Albarn and James Hewlett of Gorillaz were next up to collect their award for best album Humanz, from Benjamin Clementine, who appeared on the record.

He also appeared to be dazed and confused about how to read out the names of the nominees and host Christian O'Connell had to step in.

"That was a bit awkward Benjamin," said Damon, before laughing and giving his collaborator a loving squeeze.

"That’s for all the musicians we’ve lost and this is for all the ones who are here," he added, before thanking Benjamin for being on the record.

Annie Mac picked the Manchester indie-rockers' opening track from their album A Fever Dream as her Hottest Record in the world for Wednesday.

Singer Jon Higgs said the band wanted Night of the Long Knives, which history buffs will know as a pivotal moment during the Nazi party's rise to power in Germany, "to be a frightening track about dark forces rising in the world over the last few years".

He added: "Everything's turning into this strange nightmare so we wanted it to have this dark feel."

    Job done.

    StormzyImage source, PA

We're sure those two great lyricists will appreciate the alliteration in that headline.

It was another good night for grime, as Stormzy was named best solo artist after the success of his debut album Gangs, Signs and Prayer and subsequent world tour - which truly peaked with him drinking booze from a shoe onstage in Australia to celebrate his birthday.

As ever, the big man was enjoying his night to the max.

"I definitely weren’t expecting to win anything tonight. I’ve been drinking.

"I'm honoured to be in room with so many legends. Wiley, Liam Gallagher, my G!"

    WileyImage source, PA

Speaking of Wiley, he was given the innovation in sound award by James Lavelle.

The man from Unkle credited him with being: "One of the founding creators of what we now called grime."

Wiley said: "I wanna thank my BKK (Boy Better Know) and Roll Deep family. My mum and dad.

    Quote Message

And all the kids who were loving grime when we were doing it. Skepta and Stormzy for doing it to this day.

After the awards Liam Gallagher fan (scroll down) Skepta told 6 Music's Abbie McCarthy that "Wiley is life."

He said: "He put his life on the line for everything that we are enjoying today so respect forever."

Earlier in the night on the red carpet, Wiley told our reporter Mark Savage he was glad to have come up with a new genre and credited pirate radio for "making us".

But who does the rapper think is going to viewed as the next true musical innovator?

"I don't know yet. There are a lot of artists coming out with good word play and stuff.

"But I haven't heard a new sound in England that I haven't before, for ages. I think we are looking for them."

He added: "It could be a band or a kid with a guitar and piano - but we're looking for him."

So if that's you out there, then Wiley will see you now.

    Frank OceanImage source, Getty Images

Frank Ocean's £11m ($14.5m) court battle against his estranged father Calvin Cooksey has ended in victory for the music star.

Cooksey had sued his son over a Tumblr post that Frank wrote in June 2016, following the mass shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub that killed 49 people.

The singer recalled a childhood memory of Cooksey calling a transgender waitress an anti-gay slur, before dragging him out of the restaurant.

But after a day-long trial - during which Frank, his mother Katonya Breaux and Cooksey took the stand, a judge ruled his father hadn’t provided sufficient evidence of defamation.

Cooksey's legal action claimed the article "ruined [Cooksey's] future financial opportunities in the film and music industries".

But any damages were "speculative," the judge said.

  16. Q Awards: Liam Gallagher/Skepta love-in continues as Liam wins two prizespublished at 10:51 BST 19 October 2017

    Liam GallagherImage source, PA

The man with the current UK number one album suggested yesterday that he knew the Q Awards "had something" for him, but he seemed genuinely surprised on the night to discover it was not one, but two awards.

The 45-year-old was given the award for best live act by friend and fellow northern powerhouse singer Richard Ashcroft, who introduced him as "the legend, the mighty Liam Gallagher."

"Nice one. I didn’t expect this," replied Liam, after giving the shaven-headed Verve man a big hug.

"Nevermind best live act, I'd give it best live wire!"

Before the two headed backstage to reminisce about the glory days, Ashcroft pointed at his old rock 'n' roll pal and implored the room to "forget the music - this is the real deal."

Adding: "Controlled aggression. Economy of movement. I saw it 20 years ago in Wolverhampton and I still see it now".

    SkeptaImage source, Getty Images

There was an awful lot of love in the room for Liam, especially from the grime scene, with Stormzy referring to the Mancunian as "my G" while picking up his award for best solo artist and Skepta calling him "a true, true icon" before handing the singer his second gong of the night, the icon award.

Skepta said: "He's taken his iconic place and no-one will take it until he passes away."

The crowd were treated to a VT of some of Liam's finest moments, including the Oasis ballad Songbird, which he wrote.

"Not bad, considering I only wrote one of the songs in that," he joked.

"But ain’t all about the music. It's about being proper cool."

He then sent the love back Skepta's way, saying: "I wanna thank him for keeping it interesting. And Richard Ashcroft for always being there.

"I also want to dedicate this to my mam - as you were".

Maybe that's why its taken a month for Craig to share the video for Heartline, which first appeared in September.

The song is taken from his upcoming studio album The Time Is Now, set for release next year.
