1) The nicest man in rock 'n' roll is EVEN NICER than we thought.

This week saw current Foo Fighter and former Nirvana man Dave Grohl in conversation with his dear old mama about the challenges of raising a rock star son.

It can be a real (monkey) wrench at times for the parents apparently.

The conversation, at the LA Times Festival of Books, was to promote a new book to which Virginia Grohl has contributed, external, alongside the mothers of Dr Dre, Amy Winehouse and more about what it takes to bring up a musical superstar.

2) You can't mess with Her Majesty... even if you are Rihanna.

The Barbadian singer felt the full force of the internet this week after posting a series of Instagram pictures showing the Queen's face superimposed onto her own body (above).

On person on social media described the move as "disrespectful and stupid."

You may be a pop queen Rhi Rhi but this may be one step too far.

3) Radiohead are (might be) up to something.

It's been a busy week for Oxford's finest.

A series of mysterious Radiohead-y posters (below) were found displayed around Europe.

The artwork carried a list of slogans amounting to "More Fear", as well as the dates 2007-2017. 

2007? Hmmmmm...OK (Computer)

The band were criticised this week in an open letter from Artists for Palestine UK, which asked them to boycott their planned gig in Tel Aviv, Israel this summer.

However, on a brighter note, they did have an ant named after them.

4) Sir Ray Davies will vote for the first ever time in the next general election.

Back in the day the former Kink was apparently too busy writing and performing the soundtrack to the swinging 60s to exercise his democratic right to vote.

He's not like everybody else, external.

Now though, he's told Simon Mayo he thinks voting should be made 'compulsory'.

Finally... 5) Bananarama are back*

Surely you heard? The original line-up of 80s girl-group Bananarama (above) are reuniting for their FIRST ever tour.

Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Keren Woodward were permanent fixtures in the charts from 1982 to 1988, but never got to sample touring life.

"We had tried to do it," said Keren. "Then I got pregnant while we were rehearsing."

Now the kids are all grown up, it's time to hit the road. Better late than never.

If you're getting the train into Helsinki this weekend (and why wouldn't you be?) then you will be greeted at the main train station in the Finnish capital by some rock legends..

The state-owned railway operator invited fans of veteran US rockers Kiss to paint their signature black-and-white masks on to the imposing statues that stand guard outside the station. 

The statues are officially called "lantern bearers" but are known by Finns as 'stonemen' and were given the makeover to mark the band's gig next week.

Gives a new meaning to the term 'rock' stars.

Moving seamlessly from one French-themed story to another...

It's been four years since their last album Bankrupt! was released and now Versailles rockers Phoenix have announced their follow up Ti Amo, which is due out on 9 June and have shared a new track J-Boy, which you can hear below.

The band have also announced a headline show at London’s Alexandra Palace on 30 September.

Speaking to 6 Music, the band's guitarist Laurent Brancowitz said the new album is shaped by their new, amazing sounding Parisian base, a new digital arts centre.

Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle is moving into television with a new drama The Eddy, a musical drama set in a club in modern day Paris.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, external, the project will be written by Jack Thorne, who recently wrote the wildly successful play Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, alongside J.K. Rowling.

The new series has Alanis Morissete's Grammy-winning co-songwriter Glen Ballard and Six Feet Under’s Alan Poul attached as executive producers.

La La Land won six Oscars including best director, actress and best original score and song.

But should we call the new series Ooh La La Land?

This is one for the Stylesphiles (we're sticking with this term) among you.

Your golden boy has announced a world tour for late 2017, visiting 'intimate' venues around the globe.

The rather unimaginatively-titled Harry Styles Live On Tour begins with a 13-city run of North America, kicking off on 19 September in San Francisco.

Harry will play Glasgow, Manchester and two nights at the Apollo in Hammersmith, London.

His debut album will be released on 12 May.

Something tells us the former Oasis frontman will not be tuning into the new Gorillaz record today.

He's been on social media accusing one-time Britpop rival Damon Albarn of turning his brother Noel, who appears on Humanz, into a "massive girl".

In typical Liam fashion his language goes on to be somewhat stronger than that but we'll let you find that for yourselves.

Ryan Tedder has shone a light on mental health issues with a lengthy and frank post on his Facebook page in which the OneRepublic frontman said he was "on the verge of a mental breakdown" after a gruelling touring schedule

In the Facebook post, external, Ryan, who's written and produced for the likes of Adele and Taylor Swift, wrote about the band's tour, which lasted two and a half years and saw them visit more than 50 countries.

"About 3-4 weeks into the promo for the second single Kids I hit a physical, emotional, psychological wall.

"I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, not sleeping, on meds, not happy, anxiety on a crippling level and it was triggered from sheer exhaustion."

We're not going to better that for a headline today now, are we?

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, so we can only assume that the people at one Chinese drinks company like Aussie psych rock... a lot.

Kevin Parker and the guys have posted the advert on social media, external, which appears to very closely imitate their track Less I Know The Better from their last album Currents.

The band seem to see the humorous side though, even if we sense a call to the lawyer is imminent.

Alongside the video is a caption saying: "I mean COME ON guys at least put some effort in. #Lawsuit, #nowitsmyturn."

We have no real legal training, but it took us approximately 5 seconds to realise they could have a case here.

The band have been accused of plagarism themselves in the past and have also been in court disputing royalties payments against their record label.

If you're heading off to see some live music this weekend, then spare a thought for the people who have shelled out up to $12,000 for a ticket to the Fyre Festival in the Bahamas.

People who have arrived on the Caribbean island have branded the event, where artists including Blink 182 and Skepta were due to play, 'a disaster zone'.

Fyre Festival, co-organised by Ja Rule, promised a "cultural moment created from a blend of music, art and food".

Tickets included a flight from Miami, a stay in a "geodesic dome" and activities including yoga and kayaking.

Blink 182, who were due to play have already pulled out and several slots on the main stage are said to be unfilled.

It's worth pointing out that not everyone is feeling sympathy for the plight of the festival goers...

One for all you Latin lovers out there...

We mean Latin music, of course.

Last night was Billboard's annual awards ceremony in Florida, honouring the best in Latin music and J-Lo walked off with the a Star award.

Actress Sofía Vergara and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda appeared in a star-studded video to congratulate the singer, who also premiered a new Spanish-language balad Mírate. 

"To come back to my roots has a significance that goes beyond words. 

"Moments like these are proof of hard work and we are lucky if life blesses us in this way. I love you so much," she told the audience. 

Other trophies on the night went to Enrique Iglesias - who won four awards, including Latin pop songs artist of the year, Shakira and the Biebs who won the crossover artist award.

Bastille and Billy Bragg are among performers who will take to the stage for an intimate gig at the Union Chapel in London next month in aid of homelessness charity Streets of London.

The band will perform a stripped-back set with a string quartet.

Streets of London director Ian Stuart Fothringham said: "The number of people sleeping rough in London has nearly trebled in the last ten years. 

"These are some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in our society, and it’s vital that they can access the support they need to get off the streets. 

"Streets of London provides funding to projects that give homeless people the support they need to turn their lives around." 

Dan from Bastille, who is an ambassador of the charity, added: "We’re so excited to be playing a show alongside the incredible Billy Bragg who we admire so much, at a venue that we’ve always wanted to play."

Tickets have sold out but there is a ballot, external for the remaining 100 tickets.

They've taken over the UK music scene and now Skepta and his mates from the Boy Better Know collective will take over the biggest and top grossing venue in the UK, the O2 in London in August.

That means a full day of music, film, gaming, sport, food and more across the entire complex's venues bars and restaurants.

Two Door Cinema Club have been announced as the special Saturday night guests at this summer's Latitude Festival,

The band had to cancel an appearance at the event in 2014 due to illness.

The NI trio, who will take to the Obelisk Arena, said: "The festival has such a beautiful vibe and is a great celebration of art which we can't wait to be part of this summer.”

On Thursday other special guests announced include Katherine Jenkins, Leon Bridges, The Coral and Mystery Jets.

This year's Latitude headliners are The 1975, Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes.

So Madonna movie script-gate has been rumbling on all week here on Music News LIVE.

When news first broke of the Blonde Ambition biopic, Madge said only she knew 'the truth' about her early days in 80's New York.

Then, after having read the script she went a step further calling filmmakers Universal 'liars and snakes'.

But the internet appeared to find holes in some of Madonna's arguments.

So, our reporter Mark Savage decided to settle this once and for all by fact-checking the film script himself.
