BBC Philharmonic Orchestra Studio Concerts Ginastera & Guridi

Today’s programme features not one but two of Ginastera’s piano concertos - the first, intricately compelling and poised on a knife-edge of abandon and control; the second, Concierto Argentino, full of youthful exuberance.

From the Argentinian flavours of Ginastera, we move to the Spanish Basque region for composer Guridi’s for ‘An Adventure of Don Quixote’. This piece’s relentless energy and evocative scene-painting creates a story of its own, before building to a roaring conclusion.
