A visibly stunned Skepta took his whole crew on stage with him - including his mum - to accept the 2016 Mercury Prize for his album Konnichiwa.
"The star, the person who's on the mic always gets seen. Thank you to every single person who made Konnichiwa happen," he said as the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
"For everybody who knows what it takes to put an album together, cos it's so much more than just making the music...
"I'm just so thankful. I've been trying to do this music stuff and work it out for so long... I was like 'let's do it for ourselves'. All these songs, we've travelled the world - no record label, nothing. We just did this for us, but the love is very appreciated."
He added a shout out to fellow nominee Kano in the audience: "Kane - for life bro - we did it.
"And lastly, my mum and dad, and all my friends mums and dads - because they made us, they gave us that voice in our head that's talking to keep us in line to keep us in check....
"We all won today. Konnichiwa!"

Announcing the award's winner, Jarvis Cocker teased the crowd that it had come down to a choice between "two black stars".
He added: "If David Bowie was looking down on the Hammersmith Apollo tonight - he would want the 2016 mercury prize to go to... Skepta!"

So Michael Kiwanuka's critically acclaimed second album, Love & Hate has taken the sixth and final spot on the shortened shortlist to be in with a chance of winning this year's Mercury Prize.
Not a bad week for the singer, who's just got back from his honeymoon in Sicily.

The band have not made to to the Hammersmith Apollo tonight (they're in the US and they've lost out four times previously) but Radiohead have nabbed the second-to-last place in the final six.

Unashamedly pop nominee The 1975 have made it through to this year's final six, with the longest album title possibly ever... I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it...
And they have the great British public to thank as the band won the first ever vote to put one artist through to the final.

You couldn't blame actor Michael C Hall for a few butterflies ahead of his performance at this year's Mercury Prize.
He performed Lazarus from David Bowie's final album Blackstar on the same stage in west London where Bowie killed off Ziggy Stardut in 1973.
The general feeling seems to be that he certainly did it justice...
