    Saint-Saëns: Aquarium from The Carnival of the Animals

    Here's one of the latest clips from the Performing Miracles - and one you have no doubt heard before even if you don't recognise the name. Saint-Saëns adored animals and 'Aquarium' is one of fourteen movements he wrote for the Carnival suite, each based on a different theme or animal.

    Composer Benjamin Britten arranged 'God Save the Queen' in October 1961 for the Leeds Festival. It's this version that has been used so many times henceforth on the Last Night.

    Marin Alsop is thanking the key players in tonight's Royal Albert Hall performance - both on stage and in the audience. 

    As 'the first woman to conduct the Proms for a second time' she also has a serious message to the thousands of people in the hall and watching around the world.

    We have to work towards a more just and equal playing field for women. I think it's clear that inequality is one of the greatest challenges facing us today... Music is not going to solve these issues but music has the power to change the hearts and minds of even the most hardened dissenter.
