Four-piece Derry group Droids draw from rock, punk and metal for a raw, fast-and-heavy alternative sound that gains more and more plaudits by the day. Last year’s self-titled EP was well supported by BBC Radio Ulster’s Across The Line show, BBC Radio Foyle’s Electric Mainline and Radio 1’s Phil Taggart and their performance at Glasgowbury was marked down as a festival highlight.
Formed in 2011, there’s an undeniable edge of Queens Of The Stone Age about Droids but this is a very good thing and when you add in their other influences (Thrice, At The Drive In and Belfast’s And So I Watch You From Afar), there’s plenty to get excited about.
