Join the BBC Concert Orchestra for a free concert celebrating Nordic sounds as part of BBC Radio 3's Nordic Season. Music from Finland, Denmark and Sweden is complemented by former BBC Concert Orchestra Composer in Association Anne Dudley's Northern Lights.
The concert includes the Prelude to Act 2 of Carl Nielsen's opera Saul and David, Franz Berwald's lyrically pastoral Third Symphony, Vagn Holmboe's dramatic Symphony No. 13, written when the composer was in his 80s, and Sibelius's darkly mysterious Serenade No. 2 with Charles Mutter as soloist. Owain Arwel Hughes, a keen advocate of Holmboe's music, conducts.
This concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3's Afternoon on 3.
