Lord Sugar asks his candidates to explain why they should be his business partner.

"Lord Sugar, I once read a book," Joseph says, at first seeming like he's finished, before finally continuing, "that book was called 'What You See is What You Get. I'm now sat in front of that author."

Either Joseph has spent a lot of effort to meet his idol, or he's trying to appeal to Lord Sugar's nurturing side.

Vana takes her turn. "I will generate profits," she says. "You would prefer to have a small piece of a bigger pie, than a bigger slice of a smaller pie. My business will make a bigger impact on the world than Joseph's will," she says, going for Lord Sugar's softer side.

"I know you really like technology, and that's why I tried to pitch smart technology," Joseph says, revealing that he's being tactical in trying to pique the investor's interest.

In summary, both candidates are trying to appeal to Lord Sugar's inner geek, and hit his soft spot at the same time. But who will claim the big investment?

Claude clearly likes Vana and her concept, but Karren thinks she's a 'double risk'. On the other hand, Joseph is a hard worker and is worth investing in as a person. Claude says he'll need a 'watchful eye'.

Lord Sugar phones the receptionist - can she send the final two in?

Joseph's definition of 'big money' is 14 million pounds. Is it for Lord Sugar? Turns out it's certainly enough...

Lord Sugar steps up for a one-to-one with a pipe-slinging Joseph. How will he prevent hiring 'cowboys' to do his bidding? Will he end up with Anne Robinson on the blower to him at midnight asking him to comment on his dodgy plumbing deals?

We're just wondering how late Anne Robinson's on shift these days - surely she's got a team who can do her research for her?

Vana's fighting her corner - Lord Sugar asks if his money is going to be 'seed money' to prove her idea will work. Vana says yes, before explaining to hugely successful businessman Lord Sugar what a venture capital firm is. 

Lord Sugar's raising the sensitive issue of his own money. Vana's possibly blagging this here - Lord Sugar sees right through it. He knows that a decent app with a chance of uniting singles may need a bit more than what Vana's suggesting.

Claude comments on how 'wonderfully manipulative' Vana was in quoting the market research.

"15 apps to come to the market each week, and 15 apps go bust," Lord Sugar mentions. Vana admits to having a bit of 'selective hearing'.

Vana's explaining her idea to Lord Sugar, and he says he thought there was a consistency in her 'marketing message', but does comment on temporary lovebirds Richard and Charlene having wedding rings on in the advert!

"I would have upgraded on that day if I was given the option so I could find another match," Charleine laughs.

"You can't say the same joke that many times," Richard laughs less convincingly. Charleine continues to giggle, taking her sweet, sweet revenge.

Lord Sugar wasn't exactly impressed by Mergim's acting, and seems to be strongly hinting that the shelf smashing business may have some legs.

Luckily for Joseph, Lord Sugar liked the advert itself - it made sense and 'did the job'.

Then Brett - possibly because he's no longer in the running - reveals the original brief for the idea; "We did have an idea that it was going to look very eighties porno..." he confesses.

The board room has a chuckle at Mergim's expense. Lord Sugar's been thinking about him, apparently - he's had some shelves to demolish and the candidate could have come in handy.

Maybe this could be the start of a beautiful business relationship?

The candidates and their teams have arrived in the board room. Lord Sugar is surprisingly keen to see everyone. "I've got to choose today whether to fix broken hearts, or broken boilers," he says with glee. We reckon he should have a pop at both.

An elated Joseph feels like he's scored in the World Cup.

At the same time, Lord Sugar's plumber friends are discussing whether he's right to be so happy. It turns out that he was popular with the audience, but there's questions about whether he can be successful.
