The main BBC Essex building is a 10 minute bus or taxi ride, or a 20 minute walk from the town centre.

Chelmsford Rail Station is in the town centre with direct bus links to BBC Essex. The station has a lift to both platforms.

BUS

You can get a bus direct to BBC Essex from the railway station.
" Exit the station through the front door near the two shops There is a shop on either side, after the barriers and just before the main entrance. There are several bus stops in front of you. You need the number 42 bus. The bus numbers are displayed on black signs above each stop, the 42 is the second stop, on the same side of the road as the railway station.
" The Number 42 goes every 15 mins during the day, every 30 mins after 7pm. Ask for BBC Essex. The journey takes approx 10 minutes.
" BBC Essex (a large white building) and the South Lodge Hotel are on the right just after the bus stop.
" BBC Essex is diagonally North across a busy crossroads from the bus stop, but there are pedestrian crossings to keep you safe.
" Get off the bus and turn to your right. Walk about twenty metres to the pelican crossing.
" Cross over the road towards the South Lodge Hotel. Follow the pavement round to left to the next pelican crossing. Cross over and the BBC Essex building is immediately in front of you.
" The main reception is at the side of the building off the visitors' car park, through a blue door at the top of three steps bordered by a white handrail. There is also a door at ground level to the right of this if you need to avoid the steps (see Access).

TAXI

BBC Essex is a short (approx 10 minutes) taxi ride from the rail station. There is a taxi rank at the rear of Chelmsford rail station. Go through the ticket barrier, turn right down the row of station shops and exit through the rear doors - the taxi rank is straight in front of you. Ask for BBC Essex, which is on the corner of New London Road and Writtle Road, opposite the South Lodge Hotel.
