John came to Leicester as a Sixth Form College teacher in the late seventies. He says that he has always loved radio and prefers it to television, but he got into broadcasting quite by accident.
He is a family man and his children absorb much of the time he isnt working. However, he also manages to write and present programmes on network radio as well as produce a weekly column of opinion for the Leicester Mercury.
In 2002 he published a book called Getting Started in Radio and he is editing a volume of poetry for publication in the autumn of 2003.
