History

  • Born to a wealthy Virginian family, Christopher served as an intern in a Republican Senator's office before going to Harvard.
  • In 1998 he worked as adviser to the Republicans on the Foreign Affairs Committee responding to Clinton's decision to bomb Iraq. This involved analysing intelligence and the UN Weapons Inspectors' reports on Weapons of Mass Destruction.
  • In 1999 to 2000 he was part of a team working to the Joint Foreign Affairs Committee analysing the continued ethnic cleansing in the Serbian province of Kosovo. When Lynne Warner was made Secretary of Defence, Christopher asked to be appointed to her team. In 2004 Christopher was made Under Secretary for Defence Intelligence.
