Owen's best known for playing cheery neighbour Nick Swainey alongside Richard Wilson in One Foot In The Grave. He's also starred in People Like Us, Love Soup and various shows with Alexi Sayle. In 2007 he returned to the stage in Whipping It Up, playing Deputy Whip to Richard Wilson's Chief Whip.
