Title: The Naughty Girl
Cheryl Pearson, Head of PE at Coombe Dean School in Plymouth, is the 2004 regional winner of the Secondary Teacher of the Year Award. Her enthusiasm and devotion to her subject inspires the kids she teaches and she's described as a role model in every aspect of her work. But it wasn't always that way.

Dear Cheryl, How refreshing to hear your views.Children.old and young need to have a sense of value and to know that they are good at something.Everyone is good at something;as teachers we have a need to find out what that is. Light the Blue Touch Paper and stand back ! Schools are not designed for their pupils but for Headteachers and large salaries."Be of good Courage, hold fast that which is good, render to no "man" evil for evil. I wish you all the very best in the future. An Old School Master.

Cheryl Pearson
I think it is about time I made a public apology to anyone who ever attempted to teach me!I apologise for every lesson I ever disrupted, test I flunked and homework copied. You must have all done something right though, as I have enjoyed every minute of my teaching career to date. Thank you for your tolerance and giving up your time to keep me in the much needed detentions after school!
