ive lived here for 3 years and pretty much know that its an expensive night on a saturday,i know that bars have to make a profit but are the people who conducted survey sure about the prices, for instance a pint of stella in bar aqua is £2.85!!,and a glass of lemonade is £1.40.Therefore it can be seen that it isnt a fair representation of some bars in derby, still,i think is pretty fair compared to some of the bigger cities,i.e.Nottingham,Sheffield,etc
Andrew,Derby

I welcome the new crop of bars along Friargate, the old haunts along Sadler Gate have stood by and watched the rest of Derby develop. I don't know if Derby can compete with Nottingham for 'trendy clientelle' but the decor and the atmosphere helps - the word will be out and we should see a migration over a period of time. Derby has lacked choice for many years and why shouldn't we frequent bars where there is NO underlying current for violent tendancies.
Mo, Oakwood

The Haus might be expensive BUT it IS the best bar in Derby AND it has table service....perfect!

Try drinking in the capital - you can purchase a small country for the price of a round in the Westend
Ally - London

Extraordinary prices. I am dumfounded that the drinking hovels of Derby, the UK capital of mediocrity, believe that they can get away with charging the kind of prices normally found in bars in a 'real' city.
Phil Derby

bars attract girls with freezing short skirts! maybe cause prices are so high they look for males who pay for their drinx.
gwyneth, usa

You get what you pay for? places like The Haus can keep charging stupid prices for drinks as long as there is a mug there to keep buying them!
Paul Belper

I find it discrassfull that many pubs can get away with charging so much for a drink thats mainly water (a pint). The 'trendy' bars are trying to promote that you are paying for the service, when you will probably find its just another student behind the bar who is paying off his/her debt and doesnt care about the customer. I feel there should be a boycott of these 'trendy' bars allowing the managment to re-think their pricing policy.
Davros, Derby

I go out in Derby alot and i'm not surprised by the results, especially the ones in the top ten. It is disgusting that that they charge the prices they do. Sadler gate is a more affordable option and alot more atmospheric than some of the "trendy" bars on the outskirts of town.
Kim, derby

Any of you lot herd of monday nights in derby? Dirt cheap! As for expencive bars head accross the pond (The Derwent) Notts is alot worse!!
Alex Codnor

i fink that the price of hooch is degusting in derby, i can only afford to go out once a month because of the lack of offers apart from aruba on a wednesday which is my fav pub, dirt cheap! x9x
stef, Heanor

Just checked out all of the new bars open in Derby and nearly needed a cheque in each place! Notable exception Barlisi in Sadler Gate which surprised me and my mates - let's hope it doesn't whack it's prices up like the others.
Dave, Littleover

I have just returned to "Rip off Britain" after two weeks in Turkey. I was so impressed with their prices I'm off!!
Steve of Derby

i think the prices are vert good for the quality of girls that drink in the more expensive bars, and this is from someone from nottingham!
goldie

Beer is 95% water, is made locally, and yet costs as much as £23 a gallon. Petrol has 300% tax on it, is 100% spirit and is mostly imported, but it still cost less than £4 a gallon. There has to be something wrong somewhere!
Jumbo, Derby.

There are advantages to being diabetic, but don't like the references to Derby's brown water as a substitute.
Les Homans - Canada

what an outrage! with derby's tapwater as brown and poisoness as ever, and the extortionate prices in some bars, i think i'll carry on drinkin crap pop from LiDL (80p for 6 litres).
craig, derby

Coming From Derby but having lived in Spain for 3 years , the prices seem fairly similar to those in Marbella , but oh yes without the sun, the sea and the boats , ill stay here.
Mitch, Costa del Sol.

The top prices are stunning, what are the pubs & clubs doing regarding soft drinks for motorists?.They do not help the don't drink and drive campaign.
kim thomas Nottingham

The best prices that I've found for beer in a pub in Derby are in the Darley Abbey pub.
Tony, Normanton

the bouncers at zanzibar are muppets and prices in most of the bars are ridiculous. The girls are very average only a few ever stand out. GUTTED. oh yeah ohhh helllllloooo
gareth

It's time that the brewing industry showed some responsibility - with drink/driving offences on the increase a significant reduction in soft drink prices should be forcibly introduced. Maybe then potential drink drivers will be encouraged to swap a pint of premium lager for a coke.
Mandy, Derbyshire

£1.60 for a lemonade some places... having said that, I'm probably more amazed at the fact that there was only one place that had a pint for under £2, which is still way too expensive IMO. Don't you just love paying for stuff :P
Jonny, Derby

I hope you haven't let the landlord at the Warwich know, he'll be putting his prices up... Though I'd just like to point out that it is against the law to sell half a pint of soft drink (though a 256 ml measure is fine).
Neil, Derby

Glad to see The Vic is nice and low! :o) Knew the standing order would be aswell.
Alex, Derby

I AM DISGUSTED THE PRICES ARE SCANDELOUS I AM TOTALY OUTRAGED!!!!!
david DERBY

I think Derby has developed into a great city in recent times. I only hope that bar owners don't alienate its local people too much and drive them to places like Nottingham that almost deserves to charge higher prices for drinks because of its larger city status.
Luke Derby

What a rip-off! Soft drinks, costing a quid for a litre in Asda, Sainsburys etc, costing upwards of six quid a litre in the pub! They should be shot!
