Title: Gone basic Brett says he's all about simplicity. The clothes, the food, the lifestyle. He once used to live in London with his family. But he simply despised it. "People there are so blinkered," he says. The crowds, the rush, the attitude. No time to stand and stare. Like sheep and cows. So taking inspiration from a brief sojourn at a farm, Brett and his family decided to disown urban life and take up quarters in a rural setting. In fact, he's gone totally basic. He now makes his own electricity using wind turbines and uses candles for light. For work, he specialises in green-wood carving, using a lathe machine that operates with a foot-pedal. "It's fuelled by your stomach." And he runs classes in schools for students to appreciate nature and the possibility of a self-sustaining alternative lifestyle. He works only to sustain himself and his family. "Food and good friends are all you need", he says. Ah, this simple life.
