Involvement in CDX: Arranging the use and set up of the incredible ‘watch together’ and chat technology in CDX, allowing our audiences to engage and interact with our content in a way they never have before. With over 15 years’ experience straddling the colliding world of broadcasting and technology, Asha is passionate about finding new ways to bring amazing content to audiences in ways they didn’t even know they wanted and then can’t live without. Also a prolific writer, flexible working ambassador and mental health first aider.

Involvement in CDX: Brand and Creative Manager. Colour-lover, storyteller, designer, dancer – started career in non-profit, diverse arts organisations, learning everything design-related on Youtube! A few years on, fused her technical skills, eye for detail and energetic personality into a neat little creative fireball, which she hurls through the BBC occasionally in order to heat things up when projects seem too ‘meh’.

Beverley Nderu

Involvement in CDX: Producer in social media marketing assets. Beverley is a talented, creative individual with an extensive background in all things social media. Graduating in Broadcast Media from Brunel University, it led her to working for the likes of Endemol and Unilad, focusing on branded campaigns such as L’Oréal Paris, Heinz and Call of Duty, to name a few. Mostly video editing, she has also worked in production such as filming, assistant directing and gained her directorial debut through working on a digital campaign for Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines. Her heritage is Kenyan and she currently resides in North London.

Involvement in CDX: Project Coordinator for CDX. Emily works as a Business Coordinator in the Creative Diversity team at the BBC. She is responsible for providing support to the Director of Creative Diversity and Head of Creative Diversity and provides project support to the Creative Diversity team.

Involvement in CDX: Simon looks after the technology that powers the website. Simon has been in the BBC for twelve years, first in television and radio production and now in technology where he manages a team that builds corporate websites and applications.

Involvement in CDX: CDX Programme Lead. From staging major festivals for Europe’s largest local authority to creating intimate internal events for the BBC, Pam has been designing and delivering impactful experiences for over fifteen years. As the BBC’s events lead for the Diversity and Inclusion team, Pam is responsible for shaping the D&I events strategy for a 20,000 strong workforce.

Involvement in CDX: Moderating training. Phil started in the BBC in local radio, later moved to network radio, and later in to online production. Now he trains people in web production tools.

Involvement in CDX: Project Sponsor for CDX. June is currently the Director of Creative Diversity at the BBC, having been appointed in the role in 2019. Acting as the broadcasting giants’ first ever Diversity Director, June will work to increase representation throughout the company and ensure that the BBC’s content reflects the public they serve.

Involvement in CDX: Commissioning and hosting segment “Brown girls on the rise”. Ramaa is really interested in how we transform ourselves and each other through insight and dialogue. This idea motivates her in all the roles she does and have done in the past. Whether it’s reporting, coaching or running digital change programmes!

Involvement in CDX: Vinnie has been responsible for booking the talent for CDX. Vinnie is a BAFTA TV award winning executive who leads on creative diversity both in front and behind the camera at BBC Studios.

Involvement in CDX: Managing and maintaining BBC’s Partner Marketing relationships that carry BBC iPlayer on third party platforms. Tiffany has worked with external partners to ensure CDX is represented across their full marketing inventory. To ensure that content is discoverable and represents a true diverse and inclusive BBC on and off product. Partnerships are crucial to showcase the BBC’s value to the audience, as well as improve the perception of the brand.

Caroline Smith

Involvement in CDX: Coordinating the social media activity. Caroline has worked at the BBC for fourteen years. Career highlights have included starting the @BBC Facebook and Instagram channel (which now have over 4m followers), arranging a gig in an old steelworks with Jarvis Cocker and sorting out the parking for Prince Charles. Every day is a new challenge.

Involvement in CDX: Miranda Wayland is the Head of Creative Diversity at the BBC. In this role she is responsible for overseeing the overall on-air, on-screen diversity and inclusion strategies across all of our output.

Sophie West

Involvement in CDX: Managing the publicity for CDX to promote the event. Sophie works in Communications at the BBC having been here a decade. She's worked in a range of publicity teams from BBC World Service to Radio 1, Radio 4 and the Corporate Press Office. She currently manages the comms for programming in the Daytime and Early Peak TV schedules and Creative Diversity at the BBC.
