Storyville
Our global documentary features strand

Storyville is the BBC’s award-winning strand showcasing the very best in international documentaries. Our rich catalogue includes groundbreaking feature documentaries such as When We Were Kings, OJ: Made in America, Olympic Massacre: One Day In September, Collective: Unravelling a Scandal, Navalny, The Eternal Memory and Mr Nobody Against Putin.
We want ambitious documentaries which challenge perceptions, create conversations and make impact, and are seeking films that are compelling, creative and topical. Films that look at the people, events and issues that are shaping global political and cultural events.
We want to work with filmmakers who are curious and passionate and bring new and exciting perspectives to storytelling and filmmaking. Storyville has always been home to the best documentary directors from around the world, but we also want to work with the most exciting new talent.
Bring us your boldest ideas and we will work with you to make the highest impact films, using our experience to help you navigate all the challenges that documentary filmmaking can present, pre or post-broadcast, whether editorial, financial or legal.
Our documentaries often premiere at the most prestigious film festivals around the world and have theatrical releases - which we actively support to increase the impact and reach of the films. Many are co-produced with a host of broadcast partners such as PBS, Arte, ZDF and funding organisations across the world, and we are always open to building new partnerships. We also pre-buy and acquire films.
