Development priorities for 2024/25

For 7-12’s, our content is all about inspiring, exciting and engaging a young audience with relatable stories from all over the world. We are interested in content with multi-generational appeal, with characters and stories that feel distinctive and fresh.

Animation

• Laugh out loud, fast-paced comedy for 6-9 year-olds
• Content with international appeal, but with a British twist
• Premises with a rich seam of stories, with lots of comedy and jeopardy
• Content serving the 10-12 year-old audience with a story arc and complex character journey – potentially comic book or anime-inspired

Factual and entertainment

• Access documentaries particularly those with diverse, inclusive and cultural themes
• Compelling new voices potentially around external talent that has a following elsewhere
• First person stories for our long-running, award-winning factual strand My Life
• Family gameshows that kids can participate in, with relatable touchpoints

Drama and comedy

• Different precincts but still recognisable
• Characters that the audience can identify with and want to know more about
• Warm and cosy story-telling suitable for families
• New formats for new platforms
• Book adaptations
• Shows with international appeal to aid distribution globally
