Learn to measure space with Numberblocks
Can One fix all the panels on the space satellite by measuring the gaps in time for the Pattern Palace light show?
How to measure gaps in space
Numberblock One needs help repairing the space satellite, but she doesn't know how many panels she needs for the gaps.
Help your child learn about measuring space using this handy guide:
1. Count how many panels are along the bottom of the gap - that's a row!
2. Count how many panels are along the side of the gap - that's how many rows are needed.
If there are two rows of two, we will need 2 + 2 = 4!
Well done, the gap measures four panels!
Try an activity
Help your little one with this next measuring activity.
Four accidentally knocked more panels from the satellite. How many replacement panels does One need?
1. Count the panels along the bottom of the gap. That's one row.
2. Count the panels along the side of the gap. That's how many rows you need.
This can be tricky for your child, so slowly work it out with them.
There are two panels in a row and three rows. You can add two together three times, which looks like 2 + 2 + 2 = 6.
You can also write this as 2 x 3 = 6.
The gap now measures six panels!
