Celebrate your first Easter with CBeebies

Liberty is celebrating Easter for the first time! Watch how she celebrates with her family and learn all about the Easter story.

What is Easter?

Easter is a very special Christian festival that celebrates new life and remembers Jesus. It celebrates Jesus rising from the dead, three days after he was executed. The week leading up to Easter Sunday is called Holy Week, which includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

How to celebrate Easter

Easter can be celebrated by eating together as a family, and people often eat fish on Good Friday to remember the food Jesus shared with his followers. On Easter Sunday people might go on an Easter egg hunt, make Easter bonnets or eat chocolate eggs!

Why do we have Easter eggs?

Eggs are traditionally used as a symbol of Easter as they represent new life and the resurrection of Jesus.
