Welcome to Quentin Blake's Box of Treasures - an exciting series of animated specials based on the books of the famous children’s author and illustrator. The stories are narrated by some amazing and famous voices, including Simon Pegg, Adrian Lester and Alison Steadman. Watch BRAND NEW episodes, Angel Pavement and Loveykins, below!

Mrs Armitage on Wheels

 Inventor extraordinaire Mrs Armitage and faithful dog Breakspear love adventurous hobbies like skydiving until an accident dents Mrs Armitage’s confidence. Recovered, she plans a short cycling trip, but keeps putting it off adapting her bike with horns, a tool kit, and even a sail! The ‘land yacht’ eventually launches, but a further accident leaves Mrs Armitage doubly nervous. Luckily, her Uncle Cosmo comes to the rescue gifting Mrs Armitage his old car and getting her finally back on the road!

Snuff

Village knight Sir Thomas Magpie, well known for both his generosity and love of flamboyant hats, despairs that his clumsy page Snuff will ever learn the tricky skills he needs to one day be a knight himself. However, when four thieves threaten to raid a local bootmaker’s shop, Snuff has a clever idea to outfox the villains and save the day. His reward? His very own horse and fancy hat, just like a proper knight!

Zagaroo

Happy couple Bella and George are surprised to receive a strange parcel containing a baby named Zagazoo, who unexpectedly transforms into a series of badly behaved animals, including a vulture, an elephant, a warthog and a hairy monster, mirroring the various tricky stages of childhood and testing their parental skills to the limit as they try to adapt to their challenging offspring.

Jack and Nancy

Adventure-loving Jack and Nancy get blown away by the wind to a tropical island. The castaways spend their days exploring this gorgeous new world, having adventures and meeting exotic creatures. However, homesickness soon sets in. Finally spotting a ship on the horizon, they escape the island, returning to their own town and finally realising there is no place like home.

NEW: Angel Pavement

Corky and Loopy are two ordinary girls who happen to also be secret angels! With the aid of a magic pencil that can draw in the air, they go on 'angel patrol', amazing people in their town with beautiful art and rescuing the odd animal.

When they meet street artist Sid, they decide to help him take part in a local drawing competition by lending him the special pencil. Sid creates incredible drawings in the sky and brings joy and wonder to all.

NEW: Loveykins

After a storm, Angela Bowling discovers a small helpless, abandoned bird which she lavishes with care and attention. She feeds Augustus (her little 'Loveykins') with the finest cakes and sweets. However, as he grows bigger and bigger, he longs for more bird-style treats such as worms and bugs.

Quentin Blake Live Lesson: Coming soon!

What will happen in the Live Lesson?

Join us as we dive into the exciting world of Quentin Blake's Box of Treasures in this art and literacy lesson designed for 7-11 year olds.

We'll challenge your students' comprehension skills, explore the hidden meanings that illustrations can reveal about book characters, and learn some simple drawing techniques.

By the end of the lesson, children will be will ready to create their very own Zagazoo character, inspired by the animated specials and the original Quentin Blake illustrations.

Where can I watch the Quentin Blake Live Lesson?

The 30 minute Live Lesson will be available to watch on Tuesday 17 December 2024 at 11:00 on the CBBC channel and from 09:00 on this BBC Teach page.

It will remain online afterwards to be used as a teaching resource whenever you need it.
