Darwin is seen as the 'father of evolution'. He noticed similar birds from two separate islands had adapted differently and thought, ‘hang on a minute, if these birds have developed changes to have the best chance of survival, have ALL animals and creatures done the same?’

Other scientists (and general animal nerds) came up with similar theories too, like Alfred Russel Wallace! While Darwin focused on the competition between species to be the fastest, eat the most, reach the highest leaves on the tallest trees etc, Wallace looked at how animals’ homes affected their evolution. Cool!
