Deadly 60: Can you guess the deadly animal by its eye?
In the wild you need to be able to spot danger from any angle, but can you spot which eye belongs to which animal? Take this quiz to find out!
Why do animals have different eyes to humans?
Animals have eyes different from humans because they are more specialised for the needs of the animal:
👁️ Sometimes animals that are hunted as prey have rectangular pupils so they have a wider field of vision, allowing them to see more of their surroundings and spot deadly predators about to pounce.
🔎 Some animals are able to see in infrared light, ultraviolet light or even heat signatures to allow them to spot prey or predators more easily.
🐍 Some animals have vertical pupils to help with hunting, as it allows them better depth perception so they can be super precise as they strike.
Eyes are much like any other part of an animal, they have evolved over millions of years to give them an advantage with survival - pretty cool, right?
