What is Pokémon Horizons?

Pokémon Horizons is a thrilling animated TV show that's sure to appeal to fans of Pokémon: Journeys, which finished in 2023. Series 1 is the 26th series of the Pokémon anime franchise.

It invites us to join Liko and Roy as they journey throughout the Pokémon world, catching Pokémon, taking part in challenging battles, and meeting unforgettable friends and foes along the way. There are new lands to explore, new Pokémon to meet, and new discoveries to make.

Where can I watch Pokémon Horizons?

You can watch Pokémon Horizons exclusively on BBC iPlayer and CBBC in the UK.

When was Pokémon Horizons released in the UK?

Series 1 debuted on BBC iPlayer and CBBC in December 2023.

This was followed by series 2 (The Search for Laqua) in January 2025 and series 3 (Rising Hope) in October 2025.

Who's in Pokémon Horizons?

The main characters of Pokémon Horizons are:

  • 🌳 Liko | An Indigo Academy student from the Paldea region who owns a mysterious pendant passed down to her by her grandmother. She's a bit shy but always ready for an adventure and making friends. Her partner is Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon.

  • 🔥 Roy | The newest member of the Rising Volt Tacklers and the current holder of an Ancient Poké Ball. He’s optimistic and the first person to help someone in need. His partner is Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon.

They are joined by the Rising Volt Tacklers, a group of adventurers that includes:

  • 🥼 Friede | Leader of the Rising Volt Tacklers, and the group's very own Pokémon Professor. He's very loyal but can be a bit forgetful and absent-minded.

  • ⚡️ Captain Pikachu | The brave captain of the Brave Olivine (the Rising Volt Tackler's ship) and Friede's partner.

  • 🏥 Mollie | The medic of the group. She's somewhat aloof and distant but is kind, especially to any Pokémon who comes under her care.

  • 🛠️ Orla | The engineer of the group who takes her job very seriously. She and Friede have been friends for a long time.

  • 🍳 Murdock | The cook of the group. He is extremely caring and likes cooking for everyone on the ship.

  • 📸 Dot | Dot is Murdock's niece, a skilled programmer, and the ship's intelligence specialist.

  • 🐟 Ludlow | The fisherman of the group. He's a bit of a loner, preferring to fish instead, but is always around to give helpful advice to the rest of the group.

Where is Pokémon Horizons set?

Pokémon Horizons is set throughout the Pokémon world. It's got it all - snowy mountains, picturesque beaches, endless deserts, and lush grasslands. But the best part is the amazing Pokémon and people that our intrepid adventurers meet along the way!

What happens in Pokémon Horizons?

We’re obviously not going to tell you what happens (no spoilers here!), but what we can say is that it's an epic adventure in which Liko, Roy and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers venture into the wider world.

Brace yourself for epic Pokémon battles, make-or-break situations and of course big laughs.

Is Ash Ketchum in Pokémon Horizons?

Pokémon Horizons has two new main characters. There's Liko, who is thoughtful and adventurous, and Roy, who is optimistic and helpful.

Ash Ketchum achieved his goal of becoming world champion in the 25th series of the Pokémon anime franchise (Pokémon: Ultimate Journeys), so this time around we find ourselves in a brand-new story.

When is Pokémon Day?

Pokémon Day takes place every year on the 27th of February.

This date is important because the original Pokémon games launched on 27th February 1996.

This means that Pokémon Day 2026, which takes place on Friday 27th February 2026, will be the franchise's 30th birthday.
