Here are seven facts about the the highest mountain in the world that you may not know.

7 Things You Didn\u2019t Know... About Everest, It normally takes around 12 hours to climb the final mile from the highest Base Camp to the summit.
The temperature at the summit never rises above freezing! The summit averages -36\u00B0C in winter. The coldest EVER recorded temperature in the UK is -27.2\u00B0C.
The rock at the summit of Everest is marine limestone and would have been deposited on the seafloor around 450 million years ago.
The youngest person to reach the summit is 13 year old American Jordan Romero in May 2010.
The world\u2019s tallest building and tallest man-made structure of any kind is the Burj Khalifa at 829m high - Everest is more than ten times its height!
Sherpas are local people that help climbers by carrying tents and cooking food to the \u2018High Camps\u2019. Sherpa is often used as a last name and they will usually take the day of the week they are born on as their first name
