Here's an interesting thing for those of us who write plays: A new site called bushgreen.
It's from the Bush Theatre, and is a sort of social-networky-thing for writers, with added publishing and submission gubbins.
That sounds a bit complicated. Break it down.
It's an online community
Anyone can sign up for an account. You can then connect with other people with accounts. And talk to each other. So far so facebook*
It's ecommerce for your plays
And here's where it gets interesting. You can upload your playscript to bushgreen, who then become (effectively) agents for it. And if someone wants to download the play, they pay for the download. After VAT and the Paypal charges, the cash is then split half-and-half between bushgreen and you.
Effectively, you're licencing them to become the online publisher for your play.
It's a submission option
Once you've uploaded your play, you can also tag it for submission to the Bush Theatre, to see if they're interested in producing it.
So. Interesting to see what they're going to do with this.
*Other social networks starting with letters that aren't f include MySpace and bebo. BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T HAVE WORKED.
