A north Wales choir is gearing up for this weekend's Big Weekend when they'll be accompanying an indie band in front of 20,000 music fans, and they're hoping their performance will catch the eye of Cheryl Cole.

Côr Meibion Y Penrhyn, formed by slate workers at the Penrhyn Quarry in the 19th century, will be joining whimsical chart-bothering indie types Bombay Bicycle Club on their song Always Like This.

Speaking to the North Wales Daily Post, veteran chorister and tenor Tom Owen Williams said: "This is completely new and we will be singing in front of a very different crowd but we are honoured to have been asked.

"We only found out last Saturday and it will be a very busy week of rehearsing to be ready. We will only have our first full rehearsal with the band on the day, a few hours before the performance.

"We will be out to get noticed on the day as Côr y Fron have done, I also hope Cheryl Cole notices us as she is single now."
