The Caezars

We kicked off this morning with A Drunken Man's Speech... No, don't be silly - not literally. We fell in love with Fuzzylogicbaby when this song came to us as DJ Target’s Homegrown Download a couple of weeks back.

Three quarters of The Caezars (above) joined us in the studio from various different points of the compass - ahead of their appearances at the Ray Davies-curated Meltdown and Isle Of Wight festivals next weekend. We gave another spin to Heartache Overload from their recent 3-track EP. Tom liked their Hep Cat Bop (whatever you do, don't call it Rockabilly) so much that he even pressed a copy of the CD into Bob Harris's hand afterwards. Bob was in the 6 Music studios for Round Table with Steve Lamacq this week. And don't forget, listeners, CaeZars is spelt with a Zee.

The energy was kept up after the interview by the astonishing Oxygen Thief with his one-man aural assault Terry Nutkins Salute. Who would have thought a human voice with a single acoustic guitar could wreak such devastation. "Accidents" he sternly tells us "Do not happen - they are caused!" Our session tracks came from friend of the show Chris Long who recorded them as part of BBC Manchester's coverage of the Friends Of Mine Festival in Cheshire last weekend. Chris produces their BBC Introducing show with Sam Walker and sent us tracks by two of his favourite artists: Dutch Uncles and I Am Blackbird.

We played Context MC's atmospheric masterpiece Listening To Burial at the beginning of May and Huw Stephens recommended it to us again this week. The Norwich producer and rapper - known to friends and family as George Musgrave has enjoyed widespread support from BBC Introducing across the networks since 2008.

Bobby Friction's outrageous introductions are almost as enjoyable as the banging tunes he sends us every week from Asian Network. This morning's tip came from the New Delhi trio Nau Sau Bai whose name translates as 922. Their track - rapped in both Hindi and Punjabi - is simply called 922 Anthem.

It's always interesting to see what will come up next in our Thanks For Your Support chain where each week the baton is passed on from artist to artist. Last week we heard Jack Cheshire (who's from London) with the title track of his album Copenhagen (recorded in Sweden). This week he recommended an artist who actually IS from Copenhagen: the splendidly named Danish musician Soren Bonke - holed up in East London with a former bandmate and a stray Kiwi plus any number of instruments under the moniker of Klak Tik. Their song Ernest & George is breathtaking - and as good as anything you'll hear on 6 Music at any time of any day of the week. Click and enjoy!
