Obama casts Wright adrift

The Obama news conference on Rev Wright was a dramatic and potentially highly significant moment.

The sharks were circling, but these were mainly white sharks.

It's worth wondering - amid all the chatter there will now be about how Obama should have done it weeks ago etc etc - about the effect of this denouncement on the black vote.

The Reverend is popular. He is well received.

Will we now be hearing questions about whether Obama is black enough?
