Lucy Siegle has been looking at council tax valuations.

In her film, Lucy met One Show viewer Doreen Evans. After checking with neighbours, Doreen believed that her house was in the incorrect tax band. She challenged her council's valuation of her home - and received a repayment of £2,400.

Council tax bands - a warning

Below there are useful links that will help you to find out which tax band your house is in. But before asking your council to look again at your home's council tax band, please remember Lucy's warning:

"Make sure you do your homework thoroughly before appealing - because your [council tax] band could go up as well as down."
