Listeners think Roy’s obsessed and Freddie needs a father figure – anyone but Roy. There were cheers for Carol and boos for Fallon who can’t make up her mind.
Should Mike and Vicky stay in Ambridge? And who will come out on top when it comes to Charlie vs Rob vs Jim?
Here’s my pick of listener discussions between 7 and 13 August 2014
"Besotted and obsessed.." Listeners think poor Roy is suffering
#thearchers How good WAS she? One drunken night of passion and he's besotted and obsessed. (@DanzacRose on Twitter)
True love hasn't just driven Roy mad #thearchers It's made him certifiable. #persecutingsmallchildren (@JasperBarry2 on Twitter)
As much as I know these situations happen, I really don't think Roy would turn from being a happily married man to a selfish swine so quickly. Don't like this storyline, mostly because it doesn't ring true. (Wendy Cosby on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
What? People find it odd that a man falls for rich, beautiful still young(ish) widow after spending hours in her company day after day? It is utterly tragic, of course - but totally believable. More so than a very quick fling under the stars would be. Hopefully, he will see sense before it goes any further (again). (Christine Wilson on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Oh.No. No. No. Walk away Roy. Now. Please. #thearchers Poor Hailey. Men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *rant* (@carolJhedges on Twitter)
Is Hayley completely bereft of a brain? Why no suspicions? #thearchers (@AndromP on Twitter)
Does he love Elizabeth? I think he's dazzled by her and all she brings with her. He's going to find out that he loves Hayley when it's all too late. (Lindsay Phillippa on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
He's just trying better his prospects. And who doesn't like posh girls? Go Roy! (Richard Breslin on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Freddie gets into trouble and some wonder whether he needs a male role model - but most agree that it shouldn’t be Roy’s job
Freddie is just going to rebel more. If Freddie needs a father figure he has David or Kenton. (Emmy Johnson on Archers Addicts Facebook group)
Since when did a jumped up employee like young roy have the right to read his employer's son his rights? He's definitely overstepped the mark here... (Heidi Stone on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Well said Roy!! (Amanda Hodgkinson on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Will Roy regret this? Given what Freddie saw. #thearchers (@Bethan1967 on Twitter)
Does he really think he could take Nigel's place?? In any sense?? (Hannah Robinson on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Yup, the best way to prove your worth as a father figure is to offer to ditch your own family without a second's thought. #thearchers (@ginandcrumpets on Twitter)
Roy is well out of order. Can't believe Elizabeth is grateful for his interference. Not in character. #TheArchers (@Evidently_Z on Twitter)
Carol was back in Ambridge on Sunday, at Grey Gables, and many think it signals a rosier future for Peggy. But will Carol be back for good?
What taste, what style ... what a woman. And encouraging (to those of us past the first flush of youth, the second and the third flush), she is a fascinating woman with a rich full life behind her but still has a taste for life and it's joys and sorrows. A coup, Archers, a veritable coup. (pauline wallin on The Archers blog)
It was nice to see Peggy slowly coming out of herself and admitting what a blow Tom's departure was. I think Carol is just the tonic she needed. She is reminding her that she has always been a force to be reckoned with and will hopefully give Peggy back her fighting spirit. (Sally Yerbury-Brown on Archers Addicts Facebook group)
Not sure Gill is going to have too much difficulty letting #Glebe. @BBCTheArchers (@hellenriebold on Twitter)
Yes, that is what I have been hoping would happen ~ great for Jill , Peggy and Christine to have an old friend back, and lovely for Jennifer too, of course!! (Jean Bell on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Cut to the interior of a Morris 1000 and Fallon & Harrison Buns: Will they? Should they? Some think it’s Jazzer who might get the girl…
I've heard 'It's not you it's me' and 'I'm not ready to commit', but never 'Not while I'm deciding whether to buy a van' #thearchers (@SamWhyte on Twitter)
If PC Burns wants a 'relationship' with Fallon, why the hell doesn't he just come out with it instead of pussy-footing around and then moaning to Jolene that it's becoming a 'friendship. (Susan Wakefield on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Fallon - wakey wakey - PC burns is a keeper ! @BBCTheArchers (@Aliy47 on Twitter)
Jazzer & Fallon Round 2? #thearchers (@bevclack on Twitter)
Pleeeeease Fallon make Jazzer your one true love and make my day. Harrison Burns is not for you! (Wendy Stephens on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Jazzer has a way with words that is almost poetic. "Edgeley scone riots," indeed! I think he has hidden depths and would make a good partner for Fallon. (Lucy McGough on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Such a great game going on. I think Fallon is just afraid to make the commitment because she knows it's a, if not the, 'big one'. I'm guessing Wedding or at least shacking up in the next 6 months. Lay your bets ladies and gentlemen please? (Sue Harrison on Archers Addicts Facebook group)
Charlie vs Rob vs Jim at the Berrow Farm Open Day had everyone wondering whowould come out on top
I'm enjoying the battle of the bad boys Charlie and Rob.... both seasoned manipulators. I think Charlie is ahead on points at the moment (Caroline Stevens on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Pathetic attempt to woo the locals with tea and cake, Charlie. #thearchers@BBCTheArchers#yokelalert (@londondflorists on Twitter)
Charlie....'beware of the ides of Jim' #thearchers (@salvatorRosa on Twitter)
Yeah! Jim vs. Charlie. Outstanding stuff. #TheArchers (@adventuresofboz on Twitter)
Come on Jim, surely you can get Charlie Thomas! How about putting an ancient Latin curse on him ? #thearchers#CastingtheRunes (@archerslistener on Twitter)
when Charlie's dead body is found will there be tell-tale Riley tyre marks at the scene? @BBCTheArchers#thearchers (@_kathygriff on Twitter)
After Rob’s "true voice" was heard, some wondered whether Jimwas up to the mark
Rob's True Voice appears again. Mark my words, Helen, it won't be long before you & 'Enry are hearing that..... #thearchers (@lomelindi12 on Twitter)
Titchy does sinister superbly *shudders* #thearchers (@DoctorGOE on Twitter)
Yes Jim ! Re-group ! Ambridge needs you ! (Tricia Lesley McCarthy on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
Jim used to be quite acid tongued, with a great line in put downs. He would make mincemeat of Rob - why the change? #thearchers (@busydawn on Twitter)
Rob is a hideous control freak who is clever enough to wind people in very slowly, I know the type and suspect his downfall will be a while coming as the storyline edges forward. I can wait..... (Heather Biggs on Archers Addicts Facebook group)
Mike and Vicky are wondering if Ambridge is the place for them. Many hope they’ll stay
@BBCTheArchers yeay, welcome back Vicky. I know she talks a lot Mike but don't lock her in the pantry again - we miss her (@julib15 on Twitter)
It must be nice to live in Vicky's world. Does she not understand Mike simply cannot retire. Not enough dosh to live on. #thearchers (@olympians on Twitter)
It would be a shame if they implied that a village like Ambridge, near a town like Borchester, near a county town like Felpersham, couldn't cope with and support a disabled child. So I hope that while they talk through the Birmingham idea - and fair enough, it is an option, and it does need to be talked through - that Vicky and Mike stay near or where they are. (cath on The Archers blog)
Mike could keep the business, give Rosa more hours, employ another milkman and get a part-time admin person, or maybe continue to do the admin himself. I don't know whether that would make sense financially, or in for Mike's stress levels. (Brenda Selwyn on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
If Mike retires, maybe poor Ed will get a decent chance and get the dairy to run? He won't be able to buy the business though.... (Clare Hoy on BBC The Archers Facebook page)
