"Lilian is an enabler!" The Archers Listener Discussions to 21 June 2015.

Radio 4

This week, Kate confessed that she’d walked out of her course.

To be fair, they HAD tried to make her learn FACTS and STATS and weren’t interested in listening to her ‘vision’. Outrageous..

My bet is Kate will become a nun. [Angie Brown on Facebook]

In a silent order I hope. [Sally Phillips on Facebook]

This was the final straw... of an awful lot of straws...

I give them until tomorrow, before they have an EU bailout plan for her that means she doesn't have to look for work. [Louise Goode on Facebook]

I wonder if redemption is beckoning for Kate? She can start with exposing Wob and that blocked culvert. First things first though she needs to Skype Nolly and Sipho. And then she can find Scruff. #piercingwhistle. Here boy. [Philippa Vereker on Facebook]

Seriously though. We'd like to say a hearty thank you for all of the emotional support and goodwill you've shown Kate at this difficult time...

Maybe not... but lucky that Auntie Lilian was there to pick up the pieces...

Lillian is an enabler!!! She's buying into and supporting Kate's delusions... [Barbara Bates on Facebook]

The difference between Lilian and Kate is Lilian has not, by and large, been the author of her own misfortune. By the time she was Kate's age she had been widowed twice. Her most recent long-term partner went to prison, then ran off with all her money. She's been an overindulgent, rather than a neglectful mother. She's worked hard at running her own businesses. She shouldn't have had the affair with Paul, but even that ended in sadness through no fault of her own. [Brenda Selwyn on Facebook]

Yes, Lilian's fun and doesn't preach to others like Kate does. I like Lilian, but I'd tip slurry over Kate. [Sue Gedge on Facebook]

Meanwhile at Susan and Neil's, we raised a champagne cocktail to our departing friends, Mike and Vicky

So sad listening to Mike's party. Time has run out, it seems, for him to see the light. I understand that Vicky woman has her fan base but she was one gargantuan mistake that Mike has now paid dearly for. Bye Mike, it was good while it lasted. [Marguerite Turpin on Facebook]

Is it me? Or is Mike constantly looking back to times with Betty and not looking forward to moving on with Vicky? [Sue Pidgeon on Facebook]

Dear Mike sounded so low, full of nostalgia and regrets. I wish he had resisted Vicky's insistence that Birmingham would be best for Bethany. [Jean Bell on Facebook]

But some entertained memories of Mike and Betty's marriage that were slightly less nostalgic...

Meanwhile, in the medieval Archers...
