Is Jennifer set for a clash with Carol over John Tregorran’s bequest? It’s all go at Loxfest with listeners enjoying the Pet Shop Boys trip to Ambridge – but not so much Roy and Elizabeth’s affair. In other news, listeners suspect that Harrison has scuppered his chances with Fallon after he arrested her dad. And Mowgli, seriously?

Here’s my pick of the listener discussions between 21 and 27 August 2014.

Jennifer’s received a letter and £50,000 from the late John Tregorran but did they ever have an affair? Listeners wonder how Carol, not to mention Tony, will react to the news

Oh Oh MY! Jenny has been left a SCANDAL! #thearchers (@Firehorse_on_SL on Twitter)

How could Brian believe it was all in John Tregorrans mind??? Proof of the pudding! You don't get left 50k for nothing! (Mary J Chowen on Archers Addicts Facebook group)

Brian will see it as just about covering the cost of the kitchen. Jennifer mostly wants her reputation intact so she can go on feeling superior to Brian. Mind you, that wouldn't be too difficult. (Jenny Padfield on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

Take the 50 thousand, says Brian, as he splashes contentedly in the pool, sipping cappuccino from his new foamer. #thearchers (@RadioAmbridge on Twitter)

This plot line is all very My Cousin Rachel. What exactly did Carol do to the poor, (well, rich) paranoid guy?? (Bridget Rabbitts on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

@BBCTheArchers Oh yes, Carol Tregorran has secrets. The Keyser Söze of Ambridge, just like that she's gone (back to Bristol) #thearchers (@Arfur6pence on Twitter)

Tony will be inconsolable when he learns of Jenny's windfall....How very gratifying! #thearchers (@PatrickFMay on Twitter)

Tony: "Why didn't I have an affair with John Tregorran?" #thearchers (@TheStarchers on Twitter)

I love this storyline so far - it's just beginning but holds such promise ... (Gillian Holmes on Archers Addicts Facebook page)

The biggest news this week was the Loxfest festival, and the last minute booking of The Pet Shop Boys. On Monday, both ‘Pet Shop Boys’ and Lynda Snell were trending on Twitter. Some wondered how it could have all been arranged in such a short space of time…

I've not been this excited about a festival since Beyonce played Glastonbury #loxfest@BBCTheArchers (@eminesaner on Twitter)

Wondered why #NottingHillCarnival has been so quiet: everyone's at #loxfest#thearchers (@oddbohemian on Twitter)

#thearchers & the @petshopboys is the best mashup ever. (@johnfromsoho on Twitter)

SCREAM. Pet Shop Boys! #loxfest#thearchers (@SueHomeyard on Twitter)

Haha after all the cheek I get from my 16 year old about the Archers & now his favourite band is playing at LoxFest - love it! Made my day I can tell you (Rosemary Elsdon on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

That was hilarious! @petshopboys at #loxfest@BBCTheArchers (@SWallman on Twitter)

Yes OF COURSE the Pet Shop Boys would be available at 24 hours notice to play at a festival which has never happened before. The Ambridge Fairy must be on overtime. (Kelvin Hard on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

I love The Archers but do we really need all these cameos? The cast and script is brilliant as it is @BBCTheArchers#thearchers (@lmzross on Twitter)

Scriptwriters - please can we go back to silly pantomimes, sick cows, harvest festivals and lots of happiness. I am really fed up with unlikely couplings, music festivals and too much stress! (nelliewark The Archers blog)

Can't say I was looking forward to this epi but it was miles better than I'd feared and I found myself laughing through most of it except the end of course. Lynda and Lilian make a great pair as they alternately jostle for advantage and team up and hopefully one of them will call out Roy as Debs did Brian with the hankie. (cath on The Archers blog)

Looking forward to #Loxfest next year now #TheArchers (@cha0tic on Twitter)

As Roy tripped up on the Lower Loxley roof (what was he thinking?) and he and Elizabeth found it impossible to resist each other (again), listeners weren’t impressed

Roy wages physiological warfare #thearchers the roof ploy. (@Lodgie_ on Twitter)

#thearchers It's become clear that live music is the key to Lizzie's rather tattered chastity belt. (@SteveBrooks13 on Twitter)

Love it. The PSBs playing "it's a sin" behind Roy and Elizabeth #thearchers ( (@KRamsey on Twitter)

"Please don't take him just because you can"? Oh let her have him Hayley, you are worthy of more than Roy and I bet she soon tires of him. He soon will be without family, lover, job. (Jean Bell on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

Poor Hayley could be out of a job and loosing her man. Hate this storyline (Anne Milston on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

Did Elizabeth even spare a thought for Hayley and the girls? Feeling very judgemental right now. #thearchers (@Annette1Hardy on Twitter)

This Roy-Liz'beth thing is tearing my nerves to shreds. Maybe it'll be like Adam-Pavel and nobody will find out. Or will they? #thearchers (@MelloHog on Twitter)

Great storyline, all the women in TA are far too 'goody-goody' (Steve Jeffs on Archers Addicts Facebook page)

I never thought I'd long to have Alan and Usha back, gently bickering (fully clothed) over how to season a lentil casserole (Rona Skene on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

Over in the tea tent, everything seemed to be going Harrison Burns’ way, until Fallon’s dad, Wayne, got into trouble. So should Fallon date a policeman?

Fallon don`t do this to PC Harrison he needs you, he was only doing his job don`t turn your back on him put your own happiness first, he will be your dad no matter what (Rose Hobden on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

Fallon should be blaming her loser dad, not Creepy Burns. #thearchers (@MagneticFlea on Twitter)

Keep Harrison and Fallon together!! They can't split up! #TheArchers@BBCTheArchers (@Jonfromncl on Twitter)

Oh great; just as Fallon and Harrison were getting somewhere. Obviously they aren't going to be allowed a smooth path yet again. (Ann Brosnan on BBC The Archers Facebook page)

Wayne comes to the rescue! Now Fallon will never hook up with PC Burns! Result! Enter stage right Jazzer! #thearchers (@SocialistGreen on Twitter)

And finally, there were plenty of comments about Leonie and James’s baby’s name

I'd say that 'Mowgli' was a wind-up if James and Leonie had a particle of a sense of humour between them #thearchers (@JuliaMusings on Twitter)

I think it's a cover name, until they come up with the real one. Mowgli, they are joking aren't they? #thearchers (@juleshydeski on Twitter)

Mowgli Bellamy. If that isn't the name of a future PM and / or a serial killer then I don't know what is. #thearchers (@janewright on Twitter)

It perhaps would have been more believable if Leonie and James had named their baby after a Greek/Roman/Norse God rather than a Jungle Book character, I was going to say no one in their right mind would name a baby Mowgli, but then we have Apple, Bluebell, etc., as the saying goes 'The World's gone mad'. (Leslie Mills on Archers Addicts Facebook page)

I'm still sniggering about Mowgli. #TheArchers (@AliDeane80 on Twitter)

I wonder if people thought Shula and Kenton were outrageous names 50+ years ago? (Not that I am condoning Mowgli. I AM NOT!) (Leila Horsey on Archers Addicts Facebook page)
