Titchener Family History

On Saturday 21st May 2016 Helen and Rob’s baby is born. Rob names him Gideon Robert Titchener after his maternal grandfather, and himself.

With this new addition to the Titchener line, we've pulled out some points from the family's history.

  • The Titchener family farm, which goes back several generations, is in Hampshire. In around 2007 they got out of dairy because they couldn’t make it pay.
  • Rob’s older brother, Miles, now runs the family’s farm. Rob says Miles is pompous.
  • Rob says he could never please his father. His mother, Ursula, always thought Rob was an obstreperous boy. She thinks boarding school was the making of him. Rob says things weren’t good at home at the time.
  • Rob has told Helen his father is a bully and he could never please him when he was young.
  • While visiting Rob’s old school with the view to send Henry there, Ursula says she used to cry buckets when Rob and Miles were dropped off at school. Rob is surprised to hear this.
  • Rob has childhood memories of the Isle of Wight. He and Helen went there in July 2015 and came back married.
  • Ursula makes toad in the hole with dripping, the way her mother taught her. It’s Rob and Miles’ favourite dish.
  • The cooking expertise don’t extend to Rob’s father, Bruce. He can just about manage to cook an omelette. Rob says his parents are a very traditional couple.
  • At university Rob studied animal nutrition and genetics. Ursula says Rob is a workaholic just like his father.
