Watch out Keri, take it from one who knows! Writing a character's emails/journal can get very addictive. Thanks for the 'Paris' snork though, has the man learned nothing from past experience?

Jane's right..you can't dangle Brian's dalliances before us, only for those of us who live abroad to find that WE CAN'T ACCESS THIS! After all, they were presumably outside the UK when this happened??!!

Where was it that Brian went? Just asking! Searching the travel sites for a trip in January!!!!

Wherever Brian went, it must have been absolutely top of the range, for he was apparently able to find "free-flowing local fire-water" on a boat trip. Which is quite an achievement in the Maldives, a Muslim country which, at least officially, doesn't produce alcohol or allow it to be consumed other than in resort hotels.

I'm quite an open minded kind of girl but I was quite surprised during the listening of this - I assummed the "writer" (?) would have made it entertaining, fun or witty in some way, but all it amounts to is a summary of some rather lechy old man salivating over anything under 30. Yuk.

Jane and American listener are in the same position as me here in Tuscany, Italy, I we are locked out for being abroad. Please make this available for download, we don't mind to see adverts before we watch/listen, I could think of a few sponsors that would be interested, Barbour, Harrods silk scarf dept......

Well, I'm sat here in San Francisco and being told that it's not available in my area. Bitter disappointment as you can imagine. Sitting in a provincial town on the edge of the known world where the only culture available is from the Beeb.

Oh, and the (in)accuracy re booze and Maldives (see point 6.) only destroys the good ol' suspension of disbelief that makes good drama. It's yet another dilution of the Archers product, and falls quickly under the 'silliness and japes' section of 'Let's get writing for The Archers.... oooh, any chance of some spin-offs? You see, I have a great idea, so rather than concentrate on in-depth, slow-burn and probable storylines, we'll act like a bunch of sixth-formers being creative.' Duh.

This keeps getting trailed on Radio 4 so I decided to go and have a listen but when I click to play what happens - "Not available in your area". Just because I happen to be on the continent rather than in the UK doesn't mean I'm not interested. There's no problem listening to other programmes and audio clips either via iPlayer or embedded (such as with Today) so why is this blocked?

Well I would like to enjoy it, and probably other snippets in the future, but despite Ms Tayler Creswell's posting (9) which I've just seen I still can't. Hopefully I will be able to catch up with it when I get over to London next week but just why are those of us outside the UK disenfranchised?

Do we want more of this stuff? No Keri, please concentrate on the main programme - it needs your touch.

Thanks Keri, I have now listened to it but only after I got over to the UK for the festive season - when I first saw your post - I will be back shortly and will try it again and there and let you know if it plays for me there.



One interesting(odd?) thing - the link/player in the blog above doesn't show. Have to listen to it via the link given. I do have everything enabled but wondered if it was something to do with my computer. However have tried on different machines in the UK and exactly the same, the player doesn't appear in the window above.

I have been meaning to listen to this since before Christmas but have only just found the time, and have to say I was very disappointed :(



Kazzie in point 7 is spot on, it wasn't witty or even entertaining, and really was just the (tame) fantasies of an almost elderly bloke. Pity!

As a relative newbie to The Archers (going on 2 years now here in Toronto, Canada) I can only hope that whomever wrote this "diary" wants the audience to think of Brian as a "dirty old man". I'm a pretty liberal person but I found the piece to be somewhat offensive. There was no art here......only a sense of eavesdropping on a very unsavory man. My opinion, anyway.

Yuk! All you listeners abroad who can't hear this needn't worry. All it did was confirm what a deceitful sneaky cheat Brian is. And we all knew that anyway...
