Twitter is teeming with Ambridge residents thanks to fans of The Archers

So much hype, so little said. Why don't we get to the INCEST issue which is the only possible solution to the current crisis. I would hardly say that someone falling off a roof is likly to "shake Ambridge to the bone" as we have had so much hype, even mentions on the evening news.



A bit more was expected.

I agree. I thought there was literally going to be an earthquake.

I remember the births and/or early childhood of every member of the Archers family under 60 and the deaths and injuries of everyone who's died or been in hospital.Adam's birth was much more of a rocker than the latest one. The only thing that has surprised me this evening is that Helen wasn't checking her own blood pressure every day.

I disagree. I think the team of writers, producers and the editor have been quite clever leading us up the garden path to think that it was surely to be a death of either Helen and/or her baby but no one was expecting this. I really hope Nigel doesn't die. It would be a much better storyline if he was severely injured, for life for example and then the story could continue for many years. That would be great! Thank you for a fantastic episode!

After all the hype I had hoped that last night's instalment would rekindle my interest in the Archers. What a disappointment.

So what???????

This is my first contribution to this page so the following musings have probably already been posted ages ago. On the theme of Helen's fervently hoped for come - uppance: Was there ever any definitive proof that Gregg's (R.I..P) errant daughter (whose name I can't remember) ever had the abortion of her love child-courtesy of Helen's Ozzie ex boyfriend? I don't think so! Helen did a pretty good job persuading the youngster to keep the baby(for her own crassly selfish needs) which is probably why the girl left precipitately. So - when she returns to Ambridge - in the not too distant future I hope - sporting baby Bruce or Shiela, oh how I would love to see the pallor grow on Helen's enviously ogling face as it slowly dawns on her where she's seen a birthmark exactly like that before. That would have been a wonderful 60 anniversary present to us all!

I wonder if I am the only one feeling this way, but I supect not. I really feel disapointed with the way the editorial staff handled the 60th anniversary by killing off a character that had so much to offer the future. As the actor explained himself on the today programme, imagine what he would have been like as a 75 year old, a rather nice old fellow with plenty to say... not to mention the potential green ideas that would have been introduced using his character. No BBC I'm afraid you have not pleased this particular listener and as a one man protest I won't be listening anymore.... I'm afraid, at least for the moment I've had enough.

Please don't think you have to sensationalise The Archers too much.

I listen to The Archers because it is not Emmerdale, Coronation St. or (heaven forbid) the turgid and awful Eastenders. I'm sorry about Nigel/Graham, what a gentleman and still in character when he appeared on the "Today" programme. There's still room for gentle wit and amusing storylines isn't there ? Please ?
